Does the shut off switch have power to it? if it does you can back probe and make sure with the switch connected that there is power coming out of the switch, if there is power coming out but no power to the pump than there is a broken wire between the sitch and the pump.

I have a 1999 Chevy Venture van I ran out of gas and now it won't start I don't hear the fuel pump running so I was wondering is there a emergency shutoff switch to the pump

There is no shut-off switch. Check the fuel pump fuse in the under hood fuse block. Also check for voltage on the fuse circuit, hot all the time. At the fuel pump connector, gray wire is voltage, solid black wire is ground. Have a helper crank it while you check for good voltage and ground at the connector.

No power to fuel pump 1986 astro van

there is a green single wire under the hood on the fire wall that is taped in the wiring loom. this is a direct feed wire to the fuel pump. if you jump power to this wire pigtail the pump should run. if not then it could be a bad fuel pump or wire connection at the pump. if it does work then it could be a pump relay under the hood that has an open. while checking power also check ground circuit as well.

I have a 87 Chevy suburban and I do not have full power to the fuelpump its got full power at the fuse its like it looses power from under the Hood to the pump what can I do to get power back

There should be a fuel pump relay. Maybe its losing power in the relay. Also part of the fuel pump circuit is the oil pressure switch. The ECM will send a ground to the relay to prime the pump and give fuel while cranking. When the oil pressure is up then the oil pressure sender/switch will energize the pump. If a relay was bad, most times extended cranking until oil pressure registers will turn the pump on and the vehicle will start.

May also check the pump ground. Might be on the frame near the tank.

Hi my name is james, I'm in need of help we are working on a 2006 ford f-350 5.4l v8.. The Fuel Pump isn't working we have positive to the pump, but there is no ground?

check the relay before you replace the pump The switch is usually located around the passengers kickpanel. There should be an access hole to press the button on the switch. Sometimes the part is just above the carpet and sometimes you have to remove the kickpanel. If you are unable to find this switch on the passengers side, then look on the drivers side kickpanel.

Under the hood is a Powerbox. The shutoff switch (inertia switch) gets its power from the Fuel pump Relay after the Ignition is turned on. If resetting the shutoff switch does not help, your fuel pump Relay may be bad. On some Ford models, the horn Relay is the same Relay used for the fuel pump. This would allow you to swap and test before buying a new Relay.

The van has a emergency cut switch that keep the van from starting it a 97 dodge van

Theres a fuel pump relay under the hood on the drivers side, this would stop the flow of fuel. Does the van crank over?? If not check the starter relay.

Fuel Pump Circuit Operation When the ignition is switched to the ON position, it turns the EEC Power Relay on. The EEC Power Relay provides power to the EEC-IV processor and the control side of the fuel pump relay. Power for the fuel pump is supplied through a fuse link or high current fuse attached to the starter solenoid (battery side). From the fuse link or high current fuse, current flow is through the fuel pump relay and Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch to the fuel pump. The IFS switch is a safety device used to shut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision. If the IFS switch is "tripped," it must be reset by depressing the white or red button on the top of the switch. The fuel pump relay is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the fuel pump will operate. If the ignition switch is not turned to the START position, the PCM will shut the fuel pump off after approximately one second. The PCM will operate the fuel pump when the ignition is in the START position to provide fuel while cranking.
After the engine starts, the PCM will continue to operate the fuel pump unless the engine stops, engine speed drops below 120 rpm, or the IFS switch is "tripped."

System Diagnosis Note: Grounding the FP lead at the DLC will allow the pump to run continuously with the ignition switch on.
