Your vehicle actually should use 5w30, however you may have something else causing the slow throttle response.

What type of oil do you recommend for my 2005 6.6 Durmax. And should I change the fuel filter at every oil change.

Rotella T 15w40 is the standard for diesel engines. I would highly recommend changing the fuel filter every oil change.

My truck loses oil pressure after motor gets warmed up, then if i shut off the engine off and start it back up the pressure goes back up for afew miles then goes back down again

Hi Jasmine:
This sounds quite typical for an engine that has a lot of miles on it.
Doing regular oil changes including changing the filter is important.
Using an oil like 15W40 is appropriate.
If the oil pressure drops below 40 PS at driving speeds you might consider trying to extend the life of the engine by using an additive like STP when you do the oil changes.
Hope this helps.

Select engine oil for deseal motor

If it's a brand new car that hasn't been serviced yet, I would use a full synthetic 15w40. It has a higher Zink content than conventional oil and will help protect your engine better.

Oil pressure too low when engine is on working temperature and idles.engine was overhauled 1000 km ago and new oilpump installed

next time you change the oil use a quart of Lucus oil treatment inplace of one quart of oil. The oil is warmed up it loses viscosity so that is normal to have lower oil pressure. I use Lucus oil treatment along with Mobil 1 and my truck runs great with just a little higher oil pressure this makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

What type of engine oil is used for a diesel

go to any auto parts store, like an auto zone and tell them what you are driving. They have a data base which will guarantee that you get the exact oil that you need.

I use Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 , a fully synthetic supreme performance heavy duty diesel engine oil that helps extend engine life while providing long drain capability and potential fuel economy for modern diesel engines operating in severe applications. Mobil Delvac 1 ESP utilizes state-of-the-art technology to deliver exceptional performance in modern low emission engines, including those with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Aftertreatment systems with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF’s) and Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOC’s). Therefore we believe it will be a good oil for the high mileage vehicles with the proper care for your vehicles as recommended by your manufacturers' guidelines.

Losing oil

hi cherplan 1 thanks for your reply much appreciated ! the oil you use in my opinion is like baby oil and here in uk when valvoline first came on market years ago there were complaints about oil lights flashing on after prolonged high speeds using this grade also the consumption you complain about ? as i have truthfully said in prev reply i have never had this problem on any of our hyundais and never had any prob's with the cars and their reliability however may i recommend my recipe for your engine next oil /filter change ? use 15w40 oil i personally use a german oil called WINERGY 15W40 it is exellent! and is compatable for petol and diesel engines and also turbo charged it is recommendations come from audi/mercedes i have used it for all my cars and my customer friends/relatives and have v/good feed back now to be honest for all my cars/hyundai's i have used a single dose from new an oil additive called MOTOR PLUS it is endorsed by naasa space programme and is unbelievable! i believe in the USA etc it is called X IR OIL ADDITIVE it is merketed in uk by JML i can only say it does exactly what it says and i have used it once on each of our cars when new ? but if you use it next oil change ? will guarantee you will notice smoother/ quieter running and easier starts due to less friction and also better mpg my customers are amazed so much so when they change cars they come 1st thing for oil/filter change and motor plus to be added as i say you only need to use it once and before i forget ! you will definately notice the oil stays cleaner for longer due to less friction on engine parts ? just one more recommendation once a month i put in a bottle of REDEX FUEL INJECTION/SYSTEM CLEANER and have never suffered the dreaded emmisions trouble ie em light coming on i read a lot of problems on fixya with engine emmisions and other running faults on hyundai cars etc but you are the first one to recieve my attention and sincerely hope you take the advice above regardless of what expensive oil is recommended for you engine ? i hope you come back with update if you do take my advice? and if you are impressed pass it on to your friends/family wish you a happy new year from UK

Right oil for the engine

the oil weight (viscosity) is critical when extreme temperatures outside dictate it. during hot summer days, use higher weight since heated oil becomes thinner and easier to flow....too thin may not lube cylinder walls sufficiently so you should be ok with 10W30....(5W30 was introduced much later than 1992 and those older engines had seals that were really not ready for a thinner oil.). 15W40 is generally reserved for higher compression diesel engines to reduce piston ring blow-by. It may be ok for your car, but generally, using lowest possible weight for the climate is preferred to help with gas mileage (the engine must labor harder with heavier oil)
