I just replace both control arms on a 2002 Dodge Stratus 2.7 6 cylinder. Now, I'm not going through all the prep stuff like jacking up, removing tires, brake calipers etc... I was stumped when the bolt near the front driver side hits the transmission. It took me a bit and some frustration before I figured it out. So, if you run into the same problem, here is how I got mine out. You WILL need two jacks. Remember the car is already supported on jack stands. First jack padded and placed under the transmssion from the front. Second jack in the center of the K frame or crossmember. Jack both jacks up until there is just slight tension. Then loosen the cross member just about 1/2 inch on each bolt. Should be 12 supporting it. Once loose, lower the jack supporting the cross member little by little and raise the jack supporting the trans slightly. This should give you the space needed to remove the bolt facing front of the vehicle hitting the transmission. Good luck! IT WORKED for me.

SOURCE: how to replace lower control arm w/ balljoint on

Jack and stand your car on side to replace the arm, remove wheel,it might be easier to remove the brake rotor and caliper out of the way, now there is a shock tower that the axle goes through, remove the lower bolt, next remove the ball jiont nut and cutter pin, hit the spindle area of ball jiont, carefull to not hit the threads, remove the nut that holds the sway bar link to arm, this one can be very stuburn, remove the bolt that holds the arm to kframe, and pry the arm out, reverse the procedure.highly recommend penatrating fluid to all nuts and bolts days prior to teardown to sink in the areas. GOD LUCK, RDJRP

Repair CV Joint/transaxle on 2002 Dodge Stratus

you don't have to remove the lower ball joint or even loosen it. Just pop the tie rod off and take out the two strut bolts but be easy it don't jump out and stab the boot, it can come out that way because if you have one in my case the lower control arm ain't coming out very easy.

How to replace lower control arm with balljoint on 2005 dodge strutus sedan

You need the repair manual. You will need some
hefty tools. The procedure is not that difficult, but
a few components have to be disassembled or removed
to access the lower control arm. I'm not plugging Haynes,
but their manual has step by step instructions.

My left rear wheel is leaning in at the top

sounds like a dangerous thing....
Your lower control arm may have seperated from the ball joint... which could cause a dangerous situation should you continue to drive it...
Take a look under the car and see if the lower control arm looks broken... compare it to the other side... then call AAA and have it taken to a garage to be serviced....

How do I change the front driver side axle assembly on a 2001 Dodge Stratus?

first jack up side you will be working on and place jjackstand under the frame, next remove the wheel,to make it easier remove the caliper and tie away, dont remove the brake hose!, then remove the rotor it slides off you may need to tap backside with a hammer, next is to remove the bolt and nut from the lower balljoint, then use balljiont tool to saperate the lower control arm from spindle, you may need a pry bar to pull down on control arm to completly separte move spindle to side and let arm up, next remove the axle (cv) nut on the front, then use pry bar to pop out of trany, install new axle hold straight and slide into tray as far as you can then with nut on the axle a little tap to axle in to trany the rest of the way you will feel it go in and lock and then reverse direction to put back together, hope this helps.
