  • John Larrison Jun 08, 2011

well we got the car running but after about 30 minutes it died we replaced the thermostat and now my check engine light comes on after about 10 minutes and then dies like it's too hot after about 20 to 30 minutes

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

that problem was fixed now we aren't getting a spark from the ignition coil but we have power running into it just no spark

just to b sure, use fuel pressure gauge (to rule out pump).

And what trouble code is the check engine light giving you?.

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

well we fixed what the codes were popping but now the ignition coil isn't getting a spark even though there is power running to it

  • robertwilk896 Jun 11, 2011

Just as I suspected from the start replace the coil!!!.

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

    already did it's brand new

  • robertwilk896 Jun 11, 2011

Did you get a trouble code? What was it ?.

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

codes that popped were 327 641 and 211 648 one was for the egr sensor which we replaced and the other was coming back for ignition

  • robertwilk896 Jun 11, 2011

I would take the coil ouy & have the auto parts store check it for you replace with quality coil

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

it's a brand new coil in it we have power to it just no spark

  • robertwilk896 Jun 11, 2011

you have 12 volts to it ?

  • John Larrison Jun 11, 2011

97 ford explorer fuel pump pressure regulator

Usually if cranks good but won't start, you have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and check fuel injector pulse. I don't know what testing you have done?
As far as the fuel regulator, it depends? If there is a return line, the pressure regulator should be on the fuel rail. If no return line, with mechanical returnless, the regulator may be in a loop close to gas tank. With electronic returnless, everything is in the gas tank. Sorry, I haven't found any pictures?

Where do you find the fuel preasure regulator on a 2003 taurus

Up until 2002 the fuel pressure regulator was vac controlled and mounted in the fuel rail on the intake manifold.
After 2002 I think it is part of the fuel pressure sensor which still mounts on the rail.
You may have to check with the dealer to see which version your engine has.

I have a 97 ford taurus and I have replaced every possible sensor that you can think of as well as the alternator and the cam position sensor and the snythanizor, crank sensor, fuel pump and filter,...

'hard to crank', meaning it is hard to start, or it cranks slowly? If it cranks slowly, your starter is probably going south-if you mean it is still hard to get it started, it sounds like you did all the repairs on the ignition side but have not addressed the fuel side-check the fuel pump pressure at the rail on top of the engine, replace the fuel filter. If it is just hard to start when it is warm, you could have a leaking injector (s), or the fuel pump is losing pressure as it gets hot, or your fuel regulator is defective (you could tell this by doing a fuel pressure test).

How do i check the fuel pressure regulator on a 1995 ford taurus

got to your local auto parts store and tell them you need a fuel pressure gauge for up to 100psi, it will connect to a valve stem looking something like the one on a rim, it located on the fuel rail on top of engine, usually chrome going to 3 injectors one each side, pressure should be around 50-60 lbs, if lower replace pump

99 FORD TAURUS DOHC - WON'T START. CRANKS, BUT WON'T TURN OVER. HAS FUEL, PRESSURE, SPARK, POWER - ANY IDEAS?

If it has fuel pressure and fuel to the regulator and the rails, the regulator is working, it is getting spark to every cylinder and the timing is correct, You have good compression, it is likely a faulty sensor. You can test each one with a sensor tester or ohmmeter/multi-tester

Relay or sensor.

Fuel Problem

fuel pressure regulator? This diverts excess pressure from the rail back to the tank. When they wear out they usually stay stuck open thus diverting all pressure back to the tank. Pressure tests do not reveal this as pressure is checked before the rail not in it. I do believe you have a bad fuel regulator. They are 75US ouch.
