    is the check engine light on also or does just the neutral indicator flash? Also do the reverse lights work? there are a couple problems i have seen that are similar one is throttle position sensor, the other is a short in the back up lamp wiring causing the transmisson contol module fus to blow.

After driving for less than a kilometer, i pulled over to drop off my niece; pulled up the hand brake and set the gear to P (parked) mode. after my niece alighted, i changed my mind about parking the car...

Perhaps the shift linkage has slipped and the car is actually in neutral. Try shifting to a lower gear position.

If the car doesn't move in any gear position, you may have a problem with the shift linkage or transmission.

Cannot Disable the 4 wheel drive on my 2001Toyota Seqouoia

Not sure if this works with your car or not but it's worth a try.

Place in park
start motor
put foot on the brake
place car in neutral
If your car has a button marked 2wd push it. This should return you to 2wd mode
return car to park
turn off motor and remove foot from the brake.
BUT the best thing you can do is read your owners manual if you do not have one call your nearest Toyota dealer and ask for the service department and ask them how to put it back into 2wd
