Overheating cooling runs into reservior 02 civic


I have ran into this problem before the heater system flows around the thermostat keeping it closed . Check heater valve in closed position that the outward hose is cold. Honda engineers think that you do not need the thermostat to open during winter operation. This allows the car to get interior heat faster.

My van keeps heetin up and pushin water back into the coolant tank


Hi... you are going to have to do some more checking. After the engine is cooled down open the radiator cap, look for goo on the bottom of the cap. Look for oil or goo in the coolant.

What you PROBABLY have is a bad head gasket and the pressure is pushing the coolant out of the engine...

I wish I had better news...

Electrical problems with a 2002 Satun SL 200, the electrical door locks dosn't work, the mirror adjustments dosn't work, the dome light dosn't work. The engine runs good. head lights work


check all your fuses in engine compartment and under dashboard engine check light comes on every 3000 miles for oil change reminder

My car is overheating when I drive?


A car can overheat for several reasons, so it is going to take some thinking to figure it out.

First, think of when it is overheating! Is it very quickly or only after driving in city traffic with your AC on? If it is right away, then check your thermostat and make sure that it is opening when it should. If this is a continuous problem you might want to install a thermostat with a lower temperature rating than what the book calls for. And then install the right one for cold weather. The next thing you need to check is the water pump. If that isn't pumping water through your system then you will need to change it out. If that isn't it, then you will need to check to make sure that you don't have a blown head gasket or cracked block. To do that check your oil dipstick and look closely for any sign of coolant on it. Also check the coolant for signs of an oil residue. Some auto parts stores sell a tester that checks for combustibles in the coolant system.

Now if it only overheats in city traffic with the AC on, you need to check for partial blockage in the radiator. If you have a thermometer, you can slowly go across the radiator fins and look for differences in temperatures. That would indicate a blockage, and you could try a radiator flush to clear it, but you might have to replace the radiator if it is too bad.

Another thing to check is you cooling fan and make sure that it is working. Hint it should come on as soon as you turn on you AC.

I have a chevy Lumina 1997 and I keep getting code P0171and P0121 and would like to know what is causing these codes to keep coming up Thank You


this is an obd2 trouble code table, it can help you understand the meaning of code.
and the cause of p0171:

The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
the solution:
In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

the cause of p0121:

TPS has intermittent open or short internally
Harness is rubbing and causing an open or short in the wiring
Bad connection at the TPS
Bad PCM (less likely)
Water or corrosion in connector or sensor

solution:
1. If you have access to a scan tool, see what the idle and WOT (wide open throttle) readings are for the TPS. Check if they're close to the specifications mentioned above. If not, then replace the TPS and re-check.
2. Check for an intermittent open or short in the TPS signal. To do that, you can't use a scan tool. You'll need an oscilliscope. The reason is because scan tools take samplings of many different readings over just one or two data lines and can miss an intermittent drop out. Hook up your oscilliscope and watch the signal. It should sweep up and down smoothly with no drop outs or spikes.
3. If no problems were noticed, perform a wiggle test. Do this by wiggling the connector and harness while watching the pattern. Does it drop out? If so, replace TPS and re-check.
4. If you have no TPS signal, check for 5 Volt reference at the connector. If it's present, check the ground circuit for open or shorts.
5. Make sure the signal circuit isn't 12V. It should never have battery voltage. If it does, trace circuit for short to voltage and repair.
6. Look for any water in the connector and replace TPS as necessary.

I'd check the oil and see if you have any "cream" or discoloration of the oil as well.
Sounds like you may have oil mixing into the water...(usually looks like a chocolate milkshake.)
If this is the case, you may have a warped head (from getting too hot) or there might be an area where the water & oil jets are close and merely separated by a gasket. (i.e. Ford's 4.6 oil filter & upper water hose housing.)

Oil in water or water in oil either way isn't too good.

If after checking oil and its not "creamy" as well...maybe a good radiator flush would help.

My 95 Pathhfinder has started over heating, the coolant level is ok, and the water is moving. Have replaced radiator cap,and thermostat no help


OK, let's see, first, is it coolant or water? Coolant boils at 265 in a closed system, water boils at 220. Can you see any oil floating on top of water in radiator? Do you notice steam coming out the tail pipe at all? Is the radiator full of white rock looking stuff? Check the oil. And check all the above. If none of those symptoms show up, I would suspect just a clogged up radiator. A radiator shop can recore it or replace it. Hope this helps.

You have a clogged oil system or a faulty pump or possibly the wrong oil in the motor. This usually happens when the oil filter clogged for some reason. Check the oil for water contamination. If you have water in your oil you have one of several conditions. Cracked Head, Cracked block, blown head gasket or one of the retaining screws for the timing chain guide has come out and it is allowing water into the oil. You won't know exactly what the problem is until you get the engine opened up and locate the real problem. If you don't find a problem with the head gasket pressure test the head and magna flux the cylinders.
