Question about 1996 Chrysler Cirrus

1 Answer

Just replaced the crank sensor on my chrysler cirrus 1996. the factory alarm reset itself. i had previously turned it off. cut the volume wire so lights just blink and makes clinking noise. i can start the car by pressing the button under the steering column, however even when the car is running, the alarm continues to go off. tried the passenger door side trick and the key fob no longer works. HELP! Thanks for any advice.

Thats not a factory alarm that aftermarket. go under the steering column and remove the whole alarm set up. or better yet find a relay that is attach to the starter signal (match the color) and restore how it used to be then you should be able to crank the car , if you sucessfull have bypass the alarm then go ahead and look for its ground and just cut it. The aftermarket cuts into the ignition switch starter signal so that is where you locate the starter relay alarm.

If you do not have the keyless entry key fob, you can use the key. Insert the key in the door, turn to unlock and hold. If this does not work try turning to the unlock position 2x with in 5 second (the same as unlocking all the doors from the driver's side).

Either ASD relay in the fuse box in the front driver's side engine compartment or a burnt wire on the harness on the back of the motor going to the crankshaft position sensor.....
The relay can be swapped with one of the other relays because they are the same ones in the fuse box.
