It could be simple as a wheel sensor malfunction or a serious problem with the ABS control unit. If you bought the car from a dealer, I would take it back and have it diagnosed. A code reader with the capability to read ABS codes is needed to pinppont the problem. I would not wait to long as the problem may affect your ability to stop safely in an emergency situation.

No problem at all ,this is the one system on a vehilce that resets itself once the fault is found ,check each wheel sensor with a automotive multi meter set to lowest miliamp setting and pass a spanner over the sensor and if sensor is working then it will show a small current on meter ,if all sensors ok then check the toothed rings on each wheel ,now newer vehicles use a magnetic paint on the back of the wheel bearing and sometimes this get worn off by a plastic bag caught up behind the wheel so if i suspect this then i araldite (glue) a thin strip or metal to back of the bearing and this cures it .

Sounds like you have a bad speed sensor on the ABS. Have the ABS scanned for codes. If you want to test this, unplug one of the speed sensors. The ABS light should come on and disable the traction control system. Then the transmission should work fine. If it does, diagnose the ABS/Traction control system.

Battery was out of 99 ford taurus for 2 month now cant get reading from obd told to drive car 4/5 days how many mile do i need to dive car to reset obd for emission test

It has nothing to do with Miles and EVERYTHING to do with Drive Cycles.. There are certain things that must be tested. Within the first 10 miles, generally speaking you are going to complete the Drive Cycle requirements for ALL the tests except for 2-3. The EVAP/ O2 normally the last ones to get cleared.

Your Vehicle is a 1999 which means that you can pass the I/M test with 2 lights "NOT READY". The EVAP is going to take longer than a few miles, you must fill up your car with fuel above the 3/4 mark and then it has to go below I believe it is 1/2.

But if there are 2 Not Ready's... it will pass

2003 Ford Taurus will periodically die while driving ! All warning lights will come on and engine will die. It will start again immediately after I put it in 'Park' and I can resume driving

This sounds like a bad connection, the problem is where, i have seen the wiring harness that goes over the transmission rub into wiring and cause engine to shut down and then restart again and run until the right movement is made to shut down again.

Try starting the car and do the wiggle test, start grabing wiring and moving around and see if engine dies out.

wow!!!!, this would drive me nuts,i would take it back to the dealer and tell them that i was told the problem was the module and they even made me buy theres, you paid them, they didnt diagnose the problem correctly, theres a problem with the abs, wiring or sensor or something, the point is you are having the exact same problem you paid for!! they need to repair this car even if they have to remove the module they put in that didnt repair it! talk to the owner this should not cost you anymore $,smiple they charged you and installed a part that did not fix the car, simple! if all fails file complaint with dmv and also advise them you will do so. good luck, let me know what happens, this is crazy the dealer cant fix there own make of car.

since this is a front wheel drive car i wouldnt really advise doing this by yourself unless youv done stuff like that before. I would say its not so much difficult as it is tedious work and requires some time to complete.

2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.
