Question about 1992 Dodge Spirit

1 Answer

I was driving and went to turn and the car cut off. I coasted it to a safe spot and waited. Tried to start the car up and it turns over but doesn't start. It sounds like it just not getting enough gas. I have replaced the fuel filter couple months ago. What could be the problem?? I have heard fuel relay switch, fuel pump or some Safety Cutoff relay.

Could also be a crank sensor or a ignition module as this is a older vehicle it will have a ignition module but where to look first i cannot say as never seen this model here in spain ,also check for a wiring connector somewhere on the vehicle under the bonnet

Had this on 91 lesabre, wire going to crank sensor had bare spot and occasionally bumped on eng block above sensor, would die, but started right up again, if going straight, could shift to neutral and restart while coasting. Dangerous when turning corner

Elantra won't start and moves when it's in park

I'm going to say something happened to the cable between the shifter and the transmission. There is a switch on the transmission that prevents you from starting the engine in anything other than park or neutral. The transmission is probably in reverse or drive which would allow it to roll.
Someone would need to check the lever on the trans where the shift cable is attached.

Try checking you belt tension. That happened to me once while I was driving. Turned out to be a broken fan belt.

4 year old only 7100. I changed battery because it

gas in the tank will, over time, collect a certain amount of water,so if not started/run for at least 20mins.a week,it is not suprising that it died on you...also be aware that makers rotate the tyres 1/4 turn every week in storage, for cars waiting to be sold....flat spots.

My beetle just engine just went off while driving

Make sure the battery terminals are secure. Other than that I would guess there is an electrcal fault on the vehicle. I am not familiar with the beetle but think if I were driving your vehicle I would make sure all electrical connections were as they should be.

99 honda civic lx is having some unknown problems

The gas gauge problem is the simplest problem, and actually a pretty common one. The sending unit in the gas tank has a blank spot (for lack of a better word). When the gauge hits that spot, it gets no signal and goes to empty. If it does this for only a certain level of gas, this is the problem. If the level of gas is irrelavent, then it might be related to your other problems.
When the car "cuts out" you say the tach and speedometer quit working. That means you have lost electricity to those parts. I would concentrate on searching for an electrical short. The very first thing I would do is thoroughly clean the battery cables. Electrical problems are the most difficult car problems to diagnose, so, Good Luck.
