Question about 2005 GMC Sierra Denali

1 Answer

Hello I have a 2005 gmc Yukon Denali. The other day it rained heavily. The next morning I went to work and noticed my ac blower wasnt working. So I tested it and the motor ran but I did find that my resistor mas burned up melted. So I went to the auto store bought a new one and replaced it but as soon as I turned the car on and turned the air on not only did the blower not run but the resistor immediately started to smoke so I hurried and unplugged it. Note when I took my kick panel off to get to it it had a wet spot on the foam like water leaked I'n but I have also been told to check my switch... And I did recently have a problem where my ac would just change to hot out of no where!! So I guess my question is what would cause my new resistor to burn up so fast and not even run the blower .?

There is a short to power well you found one of the problems and that was the area that is wet, so let that dry, and if you have electrical cleaner (spay can type) just follw the direction on the container, and yes you will need to have the switch replaced those 2 component you found is the source of the problem

Reynaldo, I am having a similar issue and have gone through 4 resistors as they keep getting water in them. The drain is clear, it is almost like the water is coming through the wire harness...any suggestions.

check the wires with a multimeter to see if there might be a short. put the multimeter where the fuse is at to see why the fuse is being dead. but make sure you know what you are doing first with multimeter or have someone else that knows how to use the multimeter.
