Means you will need to flush the system with Prestone Super Flush or Super Cleaner, you may have to do this several times then put new coolant back in. Hope this helped Tim

Trans fluid ed in coolant bottle did flush and two week brown oily goo in bottle

Flush coolant system again. Do you have a brown sludge in the oil. Do this get Preston coolant flush, drain radiator drain coolant tank, fill radiator with water, add the Preston run vehicle for about 15 min remove lower radiator hose from radiator. This will allow all residue to be removed from engine. Replace radiator hose. Fill radiator with appropriate amount of coolant. Disconnect tank from system and let water run through tank until it is clear. Reconnect tank and you should be good. Unless you have oil and coolant mixed which means a blown head gasket or cracked block

2003 Chrysler Sebring my antifreeze is brown and muddy looking

Yes it looks nasty you need to have your cooling system flushed this is something that I would recommend letting a shop handle for you they will put the right coolant in and it can be tricky to properly flush the whole system out less than 100 bucks outside a dealership

Driving home last night my car was overheating and going in to limp mode. i also noticed a few days ago that the heaters only work while on the motorway doing 70 mph.

Sounds like you're low on coolant. That's not good, because it being a sealed system, you should never have to add coolant. The level should always stay full. If adding is necessary it is almost certainly leaking somewhere. If you can't see any external leaks on the engine or hoses or radiator, check your oil sump for coolant contamination: pull the oil dipstick and look carefully for milky brown swirls in the oil. That's the color the coolant gets in the oil. Take off the oil filler cap and check there too for a brown sludge. Just precautions because worst case scenario, if that's where your coolant went, it probably means a costly head gasket job.

If it turns out to be low just from neglect, you may be alright, but you need to keep watch on the coolant level for a good 2 weeks or more to be certain it is not losing coolant somewhere. Be sure and bleed the air out of it too, when refilling coolant. I don't think that was what happened, an air lock, as the cause of your overheating, though.

I have 2002 GMC Envoy. Didn't over heat but when you turn it on it blows out white smoke and when you accelerate it blows out even more. I pulled over when this happened my gauges showed all was fine and...

White means coolant in the cylinder. With high mileage, the head can crack without over heating. Check the oil filler cap for a milky brown substance to prove there's coolant and oil mixing.

Why is my coolant brown

The brown is rust. They did a poor job of flushing. It needs to be flushed with a good acid cleaner. If there are no leaks and it is cooling ok, it will not hurt to run with the brown anti-freeze.

Car is running hot and oil is white/brown color when i pull the dipstick

If the oil is white/brown.. Then that means that water got into your oil somehow. If it's running hot then make sure you have coolant in the coolant resivor.

I just added coolant to my truck 2 days ago and I still get a low coolant warning and truck is heating up. What could be wrong?

it is hot and the low coolant light is on, two clues that your coolant is disappearing. three places for it to go. 1) into combustion chamber will cause rough running, white exhaust, and coolant smell at exhaust pipe, 2) into lubrication system, pull off your oil fill cap and look for foamy **** in hole or on bottom of oil cap or on dipstick, 3) outside engine and you will find coolant puddles where you park. coolant is generally green or orange/brown these days. also generally will be stains on the engine where the coolant leaks down and off.

first two mean a bad gasket or crack and will be expensive. last one means someone has to find the leak and stop it. if your interior stinks and your passenger's feet sit in a slippery wet spot, then the leak is in the heater core, that will not be cheap.

How to check head gasket on a pontiac grand prix 1994 3.1

well, you can do a compression test, but that is tough to diagnose as you have valve seats that could not be sealing, and piston rings also. The best i can do is this, 1) are you loosing coolant ? 2) Is there coolant in the oil (oil over full mark, oil a light brown milky look ? 3) pull the spark plugs and keep track what cylinder they came from, are any plugs real clean compared to the rest? regular plugs should be a light brown paper bag in color,if they are darker it is because of carbon deposits etc... But a cylinder that has a coolant leak will burn like a steam cleaner which results in a plug that looks brand new out of the box compared to the rest. Just because your tail pipe spits water out of it, it does not mean a bad headgasket. that is just condensation of cold getting hot air blown on it just like when you first turn defrosters on and your window fogs up for a minute.

A flush and a thermostat is never a bad idea, but it sound like your radiator cap is worn out, not holding pressure, replace it, should have a 16 lbs rating radiator cap.

Overheating bubbleling in resevoir

bubbling into the overflow may mean a head gasket is gone, it may also mean the radiator or thermostat is blocked. or there is a leak
Clean and flush radiator, check the radiator fins for corrosion
pressure test coolant system
(if this is ok then)
new thermostat
new coolant
