It's the plug for the panel. The trim bezels just pop off to access the screws to remove the instrument panel. Usually unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes the problem. Also there is not a fuse for the guages, just the illumination of the panel.

1996 Saturn sl2 cluster acting strange mph and temp working then stop working changed battery plus alternator is it a fuse if so please guide me in the right direction for fuse

Maybe a lose connection or corrosion in the circuit somewhere or stepper motor internal to instrument cluster . Stepper motors are what move the needles to the desired position. An GM had step motor problems . No, couldn't be a fuse or the whole instrument cluster would act up. There is one fuse for the entire instrument cluster , located in the I/P fuse box . IGN.1 10amp fuse . Go to free wiring diagrams . Enter vehicle info , make , model an year ,plus engine size . Then under system click on body & acc. Then under subsystem click on instrumentation an check out wiring diagram . Go on you tube an watch videos on basic electrical testing an voltage drop testing . Get a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test the circuit . You'll get hundreds of different reasons on here , but best to learn to test for yourself . More then likely you'll need to have your instrument cluster fixed or replaced .

Have 1999 Dodge stratus all the gauges stopped working and odometer reads -no bus- a/c compressor stop working to, they all stopped at the same time.

I'd have to check voltage and ground for the instrument cluster. I noticed one of the fuses for your instrument cluster goes hot with the key on, same thing for ac compressor. I'd have to voltage feed to and from ignition switch for applicable fuse. Check the ignition switch wiring connector. I can't rule out ignition switch itself, at the moment.
There could be other issues?
Ignition switch faults are common on some makes and models.
Instrument cluster wiring connector problems. Sometimes if you disconnect and reconnect the instrument cluster connector, it may start working again, also, cycling the instrument cluster connector may reset, if it starts working, well, it's working for now, may quit again.
Some instrument clusters may do a self test, don't know about yours?
Press and hold odometer reset button, turn key to run position release odometer reset button, watch the odometer. Your indicator lamps may turn on and off, the gages may cycle in small increments. The cluster will exit self test on its own.
You may have to check buss circuits.

Digital instrument gauges off

I would check the fuses if its not a bad fuse its generally a bad ground that goes to the cluster

Gauges on dash dont work what fuse shaould i replace

You'll find a dash board fuse under the dash itself on the bottom end of the body control module (bcm). If this fuse is fine, and your gauge problem is somewhat erratic, or if you have having other dash problems with idiot lights of odometer led's, then I would suspect the instrument cluster main wire connector pins. Let me know and I can provide some guidance. Googling "voyager dash gauge problem solder" will likely find some informative posts on this solution as well.

What will cause the gauges to stop working

Some of the things that will stop a gauge cluster from working is a bad connection (where the harness plugs into the cluster, A defect inside the ignition switch, a blown fuse or bad relay, or a defective gauge cluster.

My tempature gauge keeps spiking in my 1996 jeep cherokee

The temp sending unit could be bad. They do not cost that much. Check the temp sending unit plug for corrosion. Other proublems could be wireing in the instrument cluster.

My gauges quit working on my 2000 Ram 1500 and while troubleshooting the problem I removed the DIN plug located in the fuse box underneath the hood. It is the one with a phillips head screw in it. I examined the conenectors and everthing appeared in order. I reseated the plug and tightened the screw back up. I cranked the truck and everthing worked perfectly. I suspect that the connectors may work loose over a period of time and noticed that when tightening the screw it made a slip when overtightened much like a locking gas cap. Tighten the screw until just before it slips. Hopefully this will help a lot of dissapointed Dodge owners.
