The first thing to do is to check the tranny fluid level, if the oil is full in the tranny then i would say you have to have the tranny rebuilt, these are the worst trannys around, they are bad. good thing it didnt blow up, meaning the tranny breaks apart in the differental part of it and destroys the case, inturn you then need to buy a case , this gets costly.it sounds like the tranny is on its way out, as long as the speedo is working then i would say the tranny is going bad. good day.

What would cause my 1999 town & country not to move in any gear

Make sure that your axles aren't broken. If you have a broken axle the power would transfer to the wheel with the least amount of resistance (to the broken axle) therefore not propelling the vehicle. Also look at your fluid level and condition. It is possible that the transmission is slipping in which case you'd need a transmission/rebuild.

The output speed sensor may have come unplugged or got damaged. It is at the front of trans close to the drivers side tire. If you lay on the ground in front of the tire you should be able to see it.

A chattering noise appears when I put the transmission in gear

Hi,
Sounds like a worn/bad/damage transmisison or engine mount. These hold the engine and trans in place and usually have a rubber part that can wear out.

Either a trans shop or regular mechanic will need to diagnose.

I don't know the cost.
