Question about 2009 Dodge Journey

1 Answer

Dodge journey door lock problem took rear door panel off and electric door locks doesn't seem to have enough power to move the knob up and down. Using the left side manually it is quite a bit easier to push up and down manually than the right side. Seems to be sticking.

If it does not work from the switches in the vehicle, the door panel has to be removed and the actuator motor tested and probably replaced. If you are going by the remote to open it. There are other factors involved.

My alarm system isn't working

The power door lock electric actuator motor is defective most likely. You will need to pull the door panel off and test it with a volt meter for power and ground when the power locks are actuated, if the system is powering up the lock motor but it doesn't move the rod then replace it,.

There is a control module in each door with connectors. I have already had one where the wiring in the connector was bad. This takes some troubleshooting, but sometimes moving things around while trying to run the windows will should you where the loose connection is.

Your rear doors have a child proof safety lock above the lock linkage, there is a turn knob, open the door from the outside and adjust, then the door will open from the inside now.

Rear Door Electric Lock buzzing and stuck

It's the power lock solenoid. There is a tiny plastic piece that connects the solenoid (motor) to the door lock mechanism (thin metal rod or two). Likely, the plastic piece has become disengaged. This is by design so that if there is a problem with the mechanism the motor does not burn out. You will need to have the interior door panel removed to gain access to the interior of the door and the lock rod and solenoid need to be reconnected. The plastic clips used to go for $1-$2 when I worked in auto parts.
