Did you have your brake rotors turned or replaced when you replaced your brake pads.if not your brake rotors are probably warped and need to be turned or replaced.hope this helps.good luck.

The Brakes locked when going down a hill

the condition you have experienced is called brake fade . It occurs when there is insufficient brake pad to adsorb the heat generated buy the changing of the kinetics energy (spinning) into heat energy by the friction of the brake pads on the disc rotors.. It gets to a point where the pads and discs will not take any more heat so when that happens it does not matter how hard you push the pedal there will be no brakes. To prevent this happening again fit new brake pads and fit new disc rotors. If you are going to be doing steep hill work then get a brake pad suitable for hard work. Talk to a brake shop specialist to get the best pads for the job. Another experience that you will have is when the brakes get hot the pedal goes to the floor. This comes from bad brake fluid and happens when the brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and the boiling point of the fluid is lowered considerably. The oil boils and the water in the oil turns to steam and you get vapour lock in the system and you will loose brakes as you are compressing steam or air.. The fix for that is to ensure that you change your brake fluid every 12 months.

1993 buick lesabre changed the front rotars and pads and now the cars brake pedal is so hard to push down to get car to stop. Mechanic has checked both the front and back brakes and they are fine. T

I would jack up a front wheel and see if pushing on the pedal with the engine running will stop the wheel from turning.
You need to know if the pressure is reaching the wheels, or if the pads and rotors are too slick to stop the car.
Usually if the pedal is hard, the booster is not working or the brakes are glazed.
Can you stop the car with the parking brake ? That only uses the rear brakes.
You may need a second opinion from a different shop.

After replacing the brake pads what do I do if the pedal isn't working properly

not sure here as the problem without a good look but going from the description iam not sure so what i would suggest is to leave something heavy like a brick on the brake pedal overnight or a length of wood jammed from the seat to brake pedal it doesnt have to hard down just enough to open the push rod pushing into the master cylinder and leave overnight and see what happens

I need a transmission, and need to no if my car is an awd or fwd also when i push on the brakes to stop if feel like the pad is push my feet back up and jerking what do that mean awd light comes on...

if you have an awd light coming on then you have an awd transmission(car).if the brake pedal is pulsing while pushing on it to come to a stop then it sounds like the rotors are warped and need replacing.this can be caused by alot of heat build up on the rotors,a lot of miles on them, the wheel nuts were not torqued when tightened, rotors are rusting and coming apart,a loose brake pad moving around.get the brakes checked.

Brakes uneven and jerky

this could just be "sticky pads" or there worn right down to there limit
you still need to strip the brakes out to check them out,,if there sticky put some copper grease on the back of the brake pads,,not on the brake pads!!!! only the backs fo them this stops then sticking and also from squealing,,

My 2003 Lincoln had new brakes and rotors 6 months ago - now, i notice a squeek when I apply the brakes - also, on snow when lightly braking, my brake pedal pushes itself against my foot in an up and down...

if you had brakes and rotors 6 months ago,did you do just front or just rear?
if you did front and squeal is in front, the new pads got hot and it glazed them, but the rotors are you pulsating pedal, are you sure they did rotors and pads?
there is no way this should be happening in 6 months.

Sticking gas pedal

its either the throttle cable is binding or you could just loosen the clamp off the rubber intake boot. and pull it off the intake and pull open the throttle and clean the butter fly that opens and closes and see if that helps, if its really dirty with old oil carbon build up itll feel really sticky. does this help
