I have an audi 80 2.0E, make of 1995. It has a starting problem. when it is parked in the hot sun, it won't start, when the temperature cools, it starts, sometimes it does not start even with enough gasoline. When it refuses to start the pump relay simply sparks.when the vehicle is allowed to rest for a while under a shade which is cool it can start again. What could be the problem with the car?

SOURCE: How do you remove the sun shade on the sunroof of

The sunroof assembly has to be removed from the car before the shade can be removed.

Start with the sunroof glass, put the glass in tilt mode and remove the plastic covers hiding the bolts. Mark the bolts with white out so they go back where they were, remove the 6 T25 torx bolts. Push the glass out from the top and remove the glass. This should allow you to remove the shade.

The problem is the Main Relay. This is the result of the poor solder application from factory.

The solution desolder the inadequate terminals and the faulty terminals and resolder them.

Everething is well explained on this site...www.techauto.awardspace.com/mainrelay.html

Good luck

I recommend replacing the fuel pump. I once experienced a similar situation with an Audi Quattro that was sensitive to temperature and would stop running when it was warm.
