Several possibilities - does it have an electric fuel pump? If so make sure it's running. Possibility-- Picked up trash and water from bottom of tank, check filters and fuel line to see two things, If it's getting fuel to the injectors, loosen lines on top of injectors to see if it's air locked. I'm not familiar with that particular car but a Diesel sometimes had to be bled off at the line going to the injector. If air bubbles turn your engine until no bubbles come out. CAUTION!! do not turn engine for extended periods as this will burn the starter, watch the starter for over heating.
I hesitate to mention this but it is a solution - Either! spray a small into the intake while the engine is turning. Read and follow all instructions on can Failure to do could hurt you bad and ruin your engine. If none of these work I suggest you go to a local auto parts and buy a manual on it and talk to the behind the counter. They can be very helpful sometimes. I believe I would do the latter before the Either.
good luck dhgill1949

AS long as there are no other problems, the fuel system should be able to self-prime.

Begin with the key in the OFF position. Then turn it to the full ON position (not all the way to START) - usually this is two clicks from OFF. Let it sit in the ON position for at least one full minute. You should be able to hear a whirring sound.... that is your electric fuel pump.

After at least one full minute, try and start your Chevy. It should fire right up.

If it did not start, you will need to do some troubleshooting. If with the key in full ON, you did not hear any whirring, you need to check your fuses and see if there is a fuel pump reset switch in the rear, normally under a panel on the passenger side.

If you heard a whirring and your Chevy still would not start, you may be parked on an incline that is preventing the gas from getting to the fuel pump. Either roll your car back and try again, or add more fuel.

If nothing up to this point has helped, please update us. We will be more than happy to get you on the road again!

You did not mention rotors but that could be the source of the grinding. The pulsating probably is traceable to your ABS and traction control syatems

My 06 chevy equinox sometimes has touble starting. After a few cranks a little push on the gas pedal it turns on. What might be the problem?

In most cases this is causes by a failed pressure check valve in the fuel pump, this allows the fuel in the lines to drain back to the fuel tank where the pump is located and this causes the hard start.

Check your engine coolant and make sure you are not running low on that. There should be a tank in your engine compartment that says engine coolant on the cap.

Would A 2006 Chevy Equinox with just 40,000 miles

Possibly. It depends on what the climate is like where you live. For instance, if you live in an area where the summer climate hits 110 (i.e. Phoenix), then your vehicle will need to be serviced more regularly. Best recommendation, take your vehicle to AutoZone, Checkers, O'Reillys, etc. for a free diagnostic check.

In the morning it takes approximately 5 trys to start my chevy equinox. Recently, it has started just turning off like it has run out of gas. Than it can take up to an hour (or more) before it restarts....

check the fuse for the fuel pump. or the relay. actually, check all fuses...i think i've heard of this before on an equinox, where the owner actually replaced pump...it was just a fuse

2006 Chevy Equinox - Service Lamp Reset

Turn the ignition to run. Within three seconds push the gas pedal to the floor three times. Turn the key to off, and then start the car. The light should flash three times signifying that it reset. If it does not, try repeating the process, but instead of turning it to off after stepping on the pedal, just start the car.
