Question about Pontiac Montana

1 Answer

I recently used the knob on my 1998 Pontiac Montana Transport van front passenger seat to lower it so that I could haul some items. Now, the knob won't work anymore, like the "gear" inside has stripped out. How do I get this knob off so that I can see if I can fix it myself, or in the alternative, just be able to have the seat back in the upright position? Thanks! Sherrie

I knew there had to be some way to take it off, but couldn't figure it out. I'll pop the knob and see what's up. Thanks!

One of 2 things may have happened here. Pop the cap on the knob and remove the screw. See if the knob has stripped out. If it has not, there is no way of repairing the mechanism inside with out tearing the fabric on the seat. i would look at some local salvage yards for a replacement seat. Let me know if you need anything else.

2004 montana bleed braking sequence

Start furthest from master cylinder. Passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front. These Montana vans have an abs system that can only be cycled by a computer. I had to take to a dealer to get them to bleed the system. Cost about $100 dollars. If you didn't remove any lines from master cylinder you should be okay w/out.

ive experienced this problem with my jeep... the geers not switching might be your tranny.... and the heat not working might be bcuz of the heater core... this will sometimes leak it most vehicles inside by where the passenger sits...

Air bag Light Stuck On 98 Pontiac Montana

Under the front seats you have wires going to your seat belt anchors. These wires are atached to a sensor witch activate the air bags if the anchors have force pull on them. The wires have plugs under the seat.Disconnect the plugs and spray with electical cleaner and replace.Make sure the ignition is switched off befor you attemt doing.90%of the time this will work.good luck.
