Be careful !!!! Look under the frount of the car you will see a black thing that it looks like a pan with a bolt in it.Take out the bolt and your oil will come out .After it drains out wipe the bolt hole and bolt off and replace and tighten good and snug as in thight. After that find the oil filter probably in front or the back of the motor but take it off and wipe off where your filter was, make sure the rubber gasket is not stuck on the motor, then repace filter.Your best deal is to let someone else do it .You really dont save alot by doing your own ,they have insurance if something happens and believe me anything can cause it has with me and I have changed oil 39 years.GOOD LUCK!!!

I put to much oil in my 97 malibu what do I do

oil drain plug is on the bottom of the oil pan, which is under the engine. a proper sized wrench will remove the oil plug. have a large drain pan ready, (5-6 quarts). You might as well have an oil change done at this time as its just a guess how much oil you remove by quickly re installing the plug while draining. If you do drain just a little oil, keep checking the dip stick to be sure not to add more than needed. Add a 1/4 quart at a time. be sue to tighten the drain plug JUST SNUG.

Replace oil pan gasket

really ? this is one of the easist jobs you can do on this car....drain the oil , remove the oil pan bolts, replace the gasket, clean the pan and the block of all debrie, hand tighten the pan bolts, and dont forget to put the oil back in, this is always a good time to do an oil change service.

I like to know how to change the oil pan gasket

First, drain the oil from the pan by using the oil drain bolt. Once you have drained the oil, then undo the bolts on the pan and pry off the pan. Take the old gasket off and cleaned any pieces of gasket and/or adhesive off of the pan and off of the motor. At this time, I would inspect the pickup screen on the oil pump and make sure it is clear of any debris. If it needs cleaning, then clean it. (This is a great time to replace your oil pump if this is an older car. Check the price of an oil pump for you car and if its not too much, it might be a good time to replace it. This is optional, just wanted to mention it.) Back to the gasket. Take the new gasket, put gasket compound (get it at auto parts store) on each side of it. Place the gasket in its place on the underside of the motor and then put the pan in place over it and replace the bolts that hols the pan on. Tighten snugly. You will need to replace the oil that you drained out by adding new oil to the oil filler tube under the hood until the oil level is correct. Once your new oil is in and at the correct level, your car is ready to start. Check for leaks around the oil pan. If you see a leak, tighten bolts, one at a time until it stops. Dont crank down too hard on thes bolts, they can break. It should not take much forse to get them tight enough to keep it from leaking. This is usually not a problem.

How to change oil pan

if the owner is the one going to change the oil pan , then the owner should locate the oil pan .Prepare the the equipment going to be used in changing the oil pan. First drain the oil or the engine oil that is in the oil pan. In draining, the owner of the car should twist the drain plug until it loose that the oil will spill on a can or to where the owner will place the engine oil.The oil pan is connected to the engine with the bolts . The owner have to twist the bolts until the oil pan is being place out of the engine . then replace the oil pan .Then the owner have to place back the bolt using the bolts to connect the oil pan to the engine twist the bolts again until the new oil pan is connected to the engine.Close or twist the drain plug until engine oil will not spill , Then refill or place engine oil to the engine. If the owner cannot do it then the owner have to go to a car mechanic to do the task or the job.

I need to change the oil but i dont know where the sump is and i dont have a manual for the car

The sump is inside the oil pan and irrelevant to your need. The oil pan has a drain plug and is at the lowest part, usually on the side, so if you can get under the engine and look up at the usually flat bottom, there will be what may look like a bolt head on the side of the pan at the lower edge. Unscrew that and the oil will come out, so have a pan under it.
