Question about Cadillac STS

1 Answer

My 2005 Cadillac STS has a completely dead battery. Nothing lights up when I pull on the door handle. I just moved and I have no clue where my key is since I've only used the FOB since I've owned the car. Is there anyway to gain access under the hood so I can put a charge on the battery and try my FOB to open the car? If so, how can I do it? I have only called the dealer and they want to tow it to the dealership, make a key, and get it started. It doesn't need a key since its a push button start. I have no idea if I left the map light on or what caused it to drain the battery. Maybe just an old battery

I was actually able to open the hood with a flat blade screwdriver. I connected battery cables and got the door open using the remote/fob. Inside the glove box was my key. I found the battery was bad after only 6 years; LOL. Anyway, you don't have to tow it to a dealer unless you don't have a key or a fob. Tip: Don't lock your key in the glove box and this will go a lot easier. 30 seconds to get under the hood without getting inside the car.

REASON EVER. You ONLY go to a dealer to buy a car
or to use the FREE Warrantee. never go to a dealer
TOO Expensive & have NOTHING too offer

Sounds like a loose connection on the battery. Clean and tighten them, and check the battery ground. Is the starter cable on tight? If still nothing, a shop needs to check the ignition switch for a defect.

Hello: On the rear bumper, driver side lower portion you will see a square which you can flip open with the key you have. Once open you will see a lock cylinder, insert the key and turn. That will open the trunk. Inside the trunk you will see a handle, pull it and it will open the drivers door. That should do it.

There is NOT a mechanical connection to the outside door handles on the front doors. There is an electronic "door popping solenoid" This is a electronic problem. I think there was a recall on this.
