Question about 1998 BMW Z3 Roadster

2 Answers

Won't start I've had 1998 Z3 over 1 /2 years.Never had any problems. Husband drove home tonight and it stalled at a light. Double clutch started it and got it home but now it won't start. Lights work and battery seems fine. Windows work but car won't lock, etc. What is the problem? It is sitting at the end of my driveway and seems fine except it won't start. My husband had a snit an walked home at 11:30 pm so I need to solve this problem. Any ideas?

I'm not a mechanic but from experience I suggest that before you start with repairs, start with the fuel. You may have either picked up some dirty gas when last filled up or just stirred something up in the tank. Try a fuel cleaner from any auto parts store. Also, and this is probably not realated, the check engine light may come on if your gas cap is not tight. Good Luck

The battery light indicates the cars Alternator is not charging the battery, this can be the alt that is defective or the wiring to it.

Why won't my miss fire?

Fuel injectors may be dirty.. or plugged. The car just sitting there may have caused the gas to go bad which may have given them a head start on plugging from the get go. Get some cleaner for it.

1998 Chaevy Cavalier manual transmission won't shift

Hi orvil brad hear, I would guess since you said you have a brake fluid leak, all of the master cylinder pressure is going out through the leak, not leaving enough pressure to actuate your clutch. If its not this it will problem be inside the tranny and thats another story. Good luck

I've spoken to several mechanics on my Explorer. I lost oil pressure and drove it home from work around 30 miles, it started knocking really bad. I had just changed the oil, they are stating I wou

Yes, I agree. Overhaul, or new engine time. Loud knocking indicates your crankshaft bearings are toast-it won't be long before a piston rod goes through the block, or the engine siezes up. Overhauling an engine with a bad knocking means a complete teardown and rebuild-very time-consuming, labor intensive, and very, very expensive. You might want to consider a used replacement engine with low miles as a cheaper alternative. Good luck.
