Bcmitchell50, It sounds like you have what is called memory steer. This happens when the upper bearing plate on the top of the strut starts to sieze up. There are ball bearings in the plate and they dry up and will hold the steering wheel in the last position it was in. I take it that when you turn left the vehicle still want to turn left and vice versa. To test this: Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you place your fingers on the top of the spring. It should be a smooth transition from side to side. If you feel or hear the spring moving in a jerky motion then this could very well be the problem. Good luck with this.

Its hard to say for sure the front end is not spring loaded and will not return unless you turn the steering wheel . But i would take a look at the front end ball joints or exessive ware in the center link or the steering box pitman arm .Its usely ovesice if you have aproblem in the front end riped boots loose parts and so on . Jack it up and see what is moveing it could be a simple thing or you may need some serice front end work . Good luck

Indicator won't stop flashing

What type of vehicle are you talking about? And does the opposite side operate correctly? What are you referring to when you say stalk returns to off position? If you are talking about the directionals or turn signals of this vehicle as to when you make either a left or right turn and it not shutting off when the steering wheel is turned back after the turn has been made then you're dealing with a canceling function within the directional or multi-function switch. Not sure if this is what you're talking about when you are reffering to indicator flashing.

I received instruction from one of your experts that did not help at all related to my 2001 Audi Steering wheel being stuck in locked position. They said to try very hard to move it to the left or th

I hate to hear that you feel that way. I don't know who, or when, but I do know that an ignition cylinder can get into a bind, which can be relieved by turning the wheel (sometimes with extra pressure) to the left or right.

It's not always the case since sometimes it's the lock cylinder that is damaged or the ignition switch, but it is generally the first response to help someone without being there to test it.

I'm hoping that you got the problem resolved. If not, you may need a new key/lock cylinder installed. Sometimes, it's not even the lock cylinder, but it's the electrical switch that won't allow the key to return to a position where it can be removed.

And, then there's the shift lock linkage that can cause it to bind.

Good luck !

Front wippers won't return to off position when turned off

The are contacts inside the motor assembly which are supposed to keep the motor running until the blades are parked; if the motor's just stopping in position wherever you turn the *wipers* off, there's a problem in the motor. If the problem is that the wipers don't park when you turn the *ignition* off, that's normal behavior. While it's theoretically possible to rewire the motor so that they'll auto-park when you turn the engine off, it's more complicated than just swapping a couple of leads, and requires adding some additional parts to the circuit; do it wrong, and the *engine* will keep running instead.

2003 honda accord/ key wont turn, steering wheel is locked

To fix your problem, you have to turn the steering wheel either to the left or right as much as you can, then try to turn the key in the ignition. When the steering wheel locks, the key won't turn. By manually holding the steering wheel out of the lock position, the key will turn again and you're steering column will be back to normal.
