the tube that runs from the egr to the manifold may be plugged you need to take it off and clean it out .CAREFULLY do not bend or kink it, check for carbon build up
Yes, the misses are cutting your power in half. The cylinders in the back half of the engine are not firing. The problem must be diagnosed to estimate repair costs. Possible causes are
1. Injector wiring harness cut or disconnected.
2. Major intake manifold gasket leak.
3. Camshaft slipped timing.
I have listed these in order of cost to repair, so have someone check for these conditions in the order above.
Remove EGR with carb. cleaner spray plunger, with screw driver work plunger in and out ( shoulb be spring ) till it goes in and out freely, make sure gasket is good.
No problems with EGR valves/system on this model car. Its located under the throttle body. Your valve is electronically controled by the ECM/Computer. Pretty bullet proof setup. What is the actual code number that autozone gave you?? Let me know the code number and will take it from there.
Jason,
-after you change the part you have to reset/clear the code
-this can be done by either:
(1) using the OBD2 code reader that Autozone used OR since option 2 (below) is very quick
(2) disconnecting the battery for about 30 seconds (this will delete
all codes/radio presets/etc) but it will also clear the 'check engine'
code
-this is what I do AFTER i write down my radio station presets :)
-hopefully the new EGR valve resolves your issue after you CLEAR the code
...but that code just means a an insufficient amount of Exhaust Gas
recirculation (pressure difference) used to keep the emissions in check
-if it comes back, then there are a few other fixes to try also
-let me know if you need further assistance
-please remember to rate me `fix-ya`if it works
thanks
Could be alot of things. If it runs good when cold and gets worse when
warm, at low RPM, it may be the EGR valve. May just need cleaning. A
plugged fuel filter
won't cause the light to come on, but it will cause a lean condition,
which will. Possibly a bad crank sensor, they have been known to have
trouble at the connection, check it to make sure it's clean and tight.
it's on the pass side, at the rear, were the motor & trans bolt up.
first things to do are to make sure the battery connections are clean
and tight. Then replace the filter..Please click on this link its the service manual ,,, http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152800895f2
