Question about 1995 Buick LeSabre
You'll need to drop the pan on the bottom of the transmission to access the filter.
Like changing your oil only messier... much
Transmissions don't have drain plugs so you need to loosen a lot of bolts around the edge of the pan then carefully break the pan free from the body of the transmission. It will be stuck beacuse the gasket is probably glued on both sides.
Once free be prepared to catch about 7 quarts of transmission fluid that will start seeping and finally running out of the loosened pan. When the oil stops seeping remove the bolts and drain what's left of the oil into your container. The filter will be in plain sight usually held in place by one or two bolts. remove them clean the seat and reinstall the new filter.
Now you must clean the gasket off the pan and the transmission or it will leak.
While you have the pan down be sure to wipe it out. You will see metal filings in the pan maybe even stuck to a magnet in one corner THIS IS NORMAL. clean as best you can. replace gasket, Tighten all bolts evenly so as not to warp the pan. Refill the transmission and check for leaks
