Hi,

If the coolant is full, and it overheats like this.it is likely the radiator is partially blocked, not allowing it to cool to its full potential. In this case, the radiator would have to be replaced.I would also suggest replacing the thermostat at the same time.Make sure than the fans are running properly. If you might have observed white smoke, the most likely cause is a blown headgasket or a cracked cylinder head which means major engine repairs are needed or at least the headgasket replaced, these heads are known to crack so if the head is removed have it checked for cracks.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

Well, i understand that he did mention that he replaced radiator and thermostat, the symptoms you mentioned are highly suggestive of bad radiator. I would still advise you to take the car for final diagnosis. Other than radiator and thermostat, the only possibility would be cooling fan. There is another probability of faulty headgasket which is commonly reported on this model.Unfortunately, i do not have a definite answer as it would need complete diagnosis of the car. I understand that you want to save some money, but i would rather advise you to take the car to the dealer as they have all the tools to diagnose the car properly rather than unnecessarily swapping of parts. This is a COMMON problem and you could google the details that there are many complaints for the same and yet there are many things that could go wrong on this model causing the above issue's.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

What is the drive cycle for a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE?

Take extra caution while performing dirve cycles on public roadways. Drive cycles can be difficult to follow under normal driving conditions. Begin by: - Start the engine. Idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defroster on. - Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. - Hold at a steady speed of 55 mph for three minutes. - Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch. - Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at ¾ throttle. - Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes. - Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking. If all other emissions systems are functioning properly, completing the drive cycle above will set the "readiness flags" required to pass the smog check. It will not hurt to perform the drive cycle 2 or 3 times before the smog test.

I have nissan altima 2005 car, when I drive it at 60 to 75 mph the rpm stays in between 2.4 to 3 but when my frn drives my car rpm is 3 to 4 for same speed 60 to 75 mph, how Can Rpm vary for each...

Shear coincidence. You have a transmission problem. Doing 60 MPH your RPM's should be around 2000, Usually a little less. One of you has a heavier foot than the other.

How to get Drive cycle

1. The testing has to start with the vehicle under 122 degrees F. Start the engine and idle for 2.5 minutes in Drive (auto) Neutral (MAN) A/C and rear defogger ON.

2. A/C OFF, accelerate to 55 MPH at 1/2 throttle and then 3 minutes of steady state cruise at 55 MPH.

3. Clutch engaged (MAN) no braking decelerate to 20 MPH.

4. Accelerate to 55-60 MPH at 3/4 throttle and 5 minutes of steady state cruise at 55-60 MPH.

5. Decelerate, no braking to end the drive cycle.

In some cases the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will go into a logic lock not letting the readiness monitors run. Removing the battery cables and touching the two together will normally take care of the logic lock condition.

I have a 1989 300E. The blower doesn't work,but I have heat at 60 mph

While your driving, the pressure of air from the outside will actually blow a small amount of air through your system. When your stopped = no air pressure = not much heat.

1996 Ford Taurus is heating up really quick if driven 5 - 10 minutes over 60 mph

If water pump is old, like over 70,000 miles on it,replace it when you do the fan belt and tensioner.
A new thermostat and a radiator flushing might also be in order. don-ohio (:^)

NEED DRIVE CYCLE FOR 2004 CRV TO RESET CAT AND O2 MONOTOR

Here is the info

NOTE: The ignition key must not be on prior to the cold start otherwise the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.

1. As soon as the engine starts, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defrost on. OBDII checks oxygen sensor heater circuits, air pump and EVAP purge.

2. Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks for ignition misfire, fuel trim and canister purge.

3. Hold at a steady state speed of 55 mph for three minutes.

OBDII monitors EGR, air pump, O2 sensors and canister purge.

4. Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch. OBDII checks EGR and purge functions.

5. Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks misfire, fuel trim and purge again.

6. Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.

OBDII monitors catalytic converter efficiency, misfire, EGR, fuel trim, oxygen sensors and purge functions.

7. Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking. OBDII makes a final check of EGR and canister purge.

1996 toyota tercel bucks at 60 Automatic

I would really have that exhaust checked again, as well as have mechanic put fuel pressure gauge on & drive it up to that speed and see what happens fuel pressure wise. With exhaust, it's not only cat converter that could be causing reduced flow.
