5-20w is what the Manufacturer recommends and I would stick with that but go to synthetic as it is just better and really does not cost that much more as you can extend the service interval. This has the added benefit of less hassle in your life as well.

Most of the time when viscosity is explained words are used that are too technical for the average person to quickly grasp. This leaves them still wondering what the viscosity numbers really mean on a bottle of motor oil. Simply put, viscosity is the oil's resistance to flow or, for the layman, an oil's speed of flow as measured through a device known as a viscometer. The thicker (higher viscosity) of an oil, the slower it will flow. You will see oil viscosity measurement in lube articles stated in kinematic (kv) and absolute (cSt) terms. These are translated into the easier to understand SAE viscosity numbers you see on an oil bottle. 5-20 is most common in newer cars, synthetic oil is best to use it will not break down as fast and usually surpasses ratings for conventional oil. While the oil itself may be rated for a higher life cycle the main portion the Oil Filter is still only rated for 3-4K miles. So you will still need to change both regularly. Hope that helps you.

Who did the work? take it back. If it's DIY double check your work. Knoking as in metalic engine , or knocking as in gas preignition. If gas preignition, timing belt is off a few notches. If it's similar to this google: 2003 kia sorento interference engine
You may have valve timing off so much that your pistons are running into the valves. Bad news!

Where is the engine oil drain plug? fill in too much oil. what happen? Kia Sorento 2003 petrol.

The plug is on the bottom of the engine, in the oil pan. Usually a 15 mm wrench will take it off. Over filling can cause it to smoke and other problems over time. If your a quart or two over , yes you need to drain it. If it is about an 1/8" or less over on the dipstick, I wouldn't worry about it
