Hi,

The thermostat is one of the things that could cause this problem. Here are some other things:
-The cooling fans-If they are not coming on at the correct time or not at all then they could cause an overheating problem.
-Cooling system leak-If there is a leak in your system then you would be losing coolant which would make your car overheat.
-Shrouds missing-If your shrouds and air dams are missing or not attached correclty they could cause this type of problem.
-Bad Head gasket-this would cause all of the problems that you are having.

These are the most common causes of this type of problem. I would recommend taking it to a reputable repair shop and having them do a "pressure test" on your system, this will show if you have any leaks. The I would have them check out the cooling fans to be sure that they are working properly.

Note - if that coolant if full and that fan is running.9 times out of 10 there is a bad head gasket allowing some compression to get into the coolant system and cavitating the coolant.since the coolant system max is 15 PSI the compression is more psi than 15 and it will actually slow down or stop the coolant flow threw the engine and cause this.its usually the rear head gasket that does this.but always change both head gaskets when its apart.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

The headgasket set is around $100 and the labor is 7.3 hours. These
rates could be a little different from shop to shop but that is around
what they should charge as it is the book rate. I would expect to spend
    around $900-$1000 for the job.

Next, I would not replace the entire engine assembly, The engine will
cost you $1700, but the labor will cost you another $1300 ..I would
repair the engine that you already have and save the $$$$$

I changed thermostat on 2005 buick rendevous ultra 3.6l. still have no heat. whats next?

Was lack of heat in the cabin the only reason you changed the thermostat? Were the radiator hoses hot (or very warm) to the touch before you changed the thermostat? Were the heater hoses hot before you changed the thermostat? Did you get a check engine light and code stating that the engine was not getting (or slow getting) to operating temperature?
Getting heat from your heater depends on a blend door actuator letting air flow through the heater core in the HVAC unit. If your radiator hoses are hot, your heater hoses are hot, and you have no trouble code indicating the engine is not getting to operating temperature, but you are not getting heat inside the car, you need to check your blend door actuator or the control unit for the heater.

Have a 2004 buick rendezvous. No heat coming out vents while sitting. Has heat when your driving. Help!

Three things that can cause this. Low on coolant and there is air in the system. The heater core is clogged up somewhat. And the water pump needs replace, low flow. On the 3.4 engines, I would say I replaced water pumps the most for this problem and overheating engines.

Heater blows won't get hot

Hi.

Technically, that's impossible. The heating system in your car gets its heat from the engine. If the engine is running, then it will generate heat and there's no stopping that. The only thing that would prevent the heat from getting into the air that's blowing into the car is if the air selector is set to "Recycle" instead of "Fresh".

So, look at the controls for the heater and be sure that the air selector is pulling air from the outside and into the car.

I hope this helps.

Buick Rendezvous Heating have Problem

Not a problem. I'm glad to help. As far as the vents, yes they run by vacuum. If the blend door or other door isn't opening or closing, you could draw cold air from one vent and warm in another.

Give it a try and let me know if you find anything. If you can't, I'll see if I can dig a vacuum diagram for the system ,may be you can find your problem

Heater immediately fogs all windows and there is a sweet odor in the cab of 2003 Buick Rendezvous, defroster works fine, but will not clear the windows after heat is put on

Sounds like a possible heater core failure(hole in it) the smell indicates to me the coolant(anti-freeze) is leaking into the passenger compartment.
Check the carpet in front of the front passenger seat for moisture, this would confirm heater core leak.
Good luck !
