Replaced starter and sylinoid in my 1989 f250 still wont start

If the old solenoid had a bad short it may have put your new starter out of commission. Have the starter tested-it should still have warranty for repllacement.

1993 f250 7.5l-460.starter tested good. replaced relay. Still just hear solenoid click as well as relay but will not engage starter motor

check for power at the starter. sounds as if the starter is dragging. also check cable to make sure it is not corroded or loose.

My ford 1989 F250 won't change gears from reverse to drive

the first problem was the truck wouldn't start. replaced the starter, nothing. replaced the battery and solenoid, nothing. had to touch the starter wire to the battery and got the engine to start. so it looks as though something in the ignition maybe the problem. once i have the truck started i can shift into reverse from park and that's it. i can't shift it into neutral or drive. was hoping to hear it is the ignition switch i need to replace and i don't want to hear its the transmission. please help! thank you.

1989 ford F250 won't start. no sounds on key turn except the fuel solenoid that clicks. I replaced the starter solenoid but that didn't help either. Last time it happened I tapped the starter and wiggled...

What i think is happening here by the sounds of it is..... your starter has a dead spot. your solenoid may be perfect and is sending current to the starter but no action is taking place. This actually happened to me once on my goldoni tractor and it was the starter!!
