Heres the directions on how to do it ebay has a bunch of them you can purchase,, and Napa also Has them so I would imagine other parts stores do also

I got my carburetor problem fixed but now it runs for a while then starts backfiring it'll shut off let's set for a couple seconds and start right back up can anybody tell me why

That sounds like a fuel/air mixture problem.

Just to confirm .. it is a carburettor, not fuel injection?

As a general rule of thumb (with carburettors..) if it backfires through the exhaust/muffler .. the fuel mixture is too rich.

If it backfires through the carb/air filter, the mixture is too weak.

It could also be a 'sticking' float in the carb.

When an engine is cold the fuel is rich .. lots of fuel .. that's how a choke works.. However, when the engine warms up a rich mixture causes problems. The car may splutter and stall, run sluggish or cut out.

I go a trail master go cart 150cc it will start then shut rite back off push gas in it starts but won't rev up clean card same thing got new car still same thing

I answered this this afternoon!

When you installed the new carburettor did you check the new main jet was the same as the old one? Do you see a screw on the outside of the carb with possibly a spring on it? That is the air mixture screw and needs fully tightened (but not too hard) and then backed out by a certain number of turned. On a bike of mine it was 1.5 turns out. Also the needle inside the carb has slots in it and a circling that needs to be in the right slot. You really need a workshop manual when doing work like this.

Finally the linkage to the carb has an adjuster to set the idle revs, BUT the carb has to be set up correctly first.

the CO and fuel/air mixture is not adjustable on modern cars , only on carburettors . the engine management system will ensure correct fuelling, if there is a fault with this then in most cases an engine management light will illuminate on the dash board

I have a 94' Isuzu pickup its a 2.3L 5 speed. I have been having fuel mixture issues. I recently installed a refurbished carburetor. It runs great but still on the rich side and I can not pass

Before you start playing around with the carb settings I suggest you check the fuel pressure and set it to the minimum in the specs by adding gaskets between the pump and engine.

Next ensure the carburettor float level is also set to the minimum height listed in the specs and the choke or strangler is working and adjusted as it should be.
While you have the carb top off for the float level it would be a good idea to check the jet sizes against specs just to be certain the carb was refurbished for the right vehicle being operated at the right altitude. If you find any discrepancies you need to talk to the refurbishers.

Next it would be wise to ensure the other parts of the engine are at peak efficiency; spark plugs, high tension leads, distributor cap and rotor arm, ignition timing including the automatic ignition advances if any are fitted and the valve clearances if they are adjustable. If you can adjust it or clean it to make it better then do it, including the pcv system.

If you are running on budget engine oil a change to a premium quality oil could make enough difference to get a pass and so could a new thermostat if the engine isn't reaching proper operating temperature.

In an emission controlled area fuel mixture adjustment screws are supposed to be sealed with little plastic plugs to make them tamper-proof. Most carburettors have them even though they can't be seen but from time-to-time adjustments do need to be carried out and the little plastic or aluminium plugs must be removed and adjustments made with suitable measuring equipment and then new tamperproofing fitted.
A carb cannot be preset accurately on a test-rig because each engine will have slightly different requirements.

I suggest you find a specialist with a long grey beard and a long memory to give your vehicle those all-important fine adjustments.

Sounds like your carb needs to have the jets adjusted. 2 ways around the problem: 1. Spray starter fluid in the top of the carb before starting. or 2. Pump the gas pedal about 8 times before trying to start.

usually turning screw clockwise sends the main jet down (opening more) getting more fuel through (richer) and opposite is 'usually' for leaner, or 'weaker' mixture...
get hold of a Colourtune carb tuning tool.. this will help endlessly..

its a fixed jet carb no tuning possible unless re-jetting and this is not to be advised ,only the mixture on idle is adjustable on earlier models

Would this be the 1108cc or 1372cc model Uno ? You will find the vacuum advance unit attached to the distributor. Check the pipe connection from the vacuum advance to the carburettor - loose or damaged. This is normally the main cause for uneven idling/stalling. Alternatively the carburettor needs adjustment via the carburettor idling screw. Hopefully this will help. Good luck.

I think you must have the carburettor plunger not going well as you are getting flat spots under sudden acceleration, I think the best way to go is to get the carburettor overhauled.
