Question about 2000 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

My 2000 Buiok Park ave. sometimes will not start and after letting it sit for about 4 or 5 min. it starts right up. This only happens about once a week, but seems to happen more frequently now. I have about 144,000 miles on the car. Could this be a weak fuel pump or could it be the CKP Sensor? Also this just started to happen about a month ago. Thanks for your input. John Todd

The ckp sensor should cause check engine light to go on and log a code
the fuel pressure could do this and no light would come on
the engine at that time would crank over ussualy faster and would not sound the same
when cranking over hitting the gas tank whit rubber mallet in center would cause pump
to kick in at times and would indicate that fuel pump on it's way out

97 Buick Park Ave. Non-Ultra. Mileage 200K. Was squeaking at morning cold start for about 5 to 10 min. Replaced Serpentine Belt, belt tensioner, alternator, and PCV Valve. STILL squeaking at cold start....

How's your engine coolant level? If you've got a water pump leaking coolant, your belt will squeak, as the pump will leak the coolant directly onto the belt. You'll see the spray pattern under the hood if it's been going on for a while.

02 Park Ave, Need to know how to program new key to ignition.

Take the original key, if you have it. Start the car, kill the car then start it with the new key. This will work for adding a key. If you are replacing a lost key then you will have to learn it to the theft system.Place the key in the ignition, turn it to run for 10 min. Cycle it off then back to run for 10 min. Cycle it off then back to run for 10 moer minutes. When the 30 minutes is up turn it off then try to start it. Thai should work. I have had to do it more than once. Good Luck

No spark periodically

Are there any relays on the vehicle that pertain to ignition ?. replace it if there is. I suspect the relay will be located in a compartment close to the battery. it's covered but should be obvious. when you take off the lid there should be a sticker under the lid that tells you which fuses/relays are which.
any lights come on the dash and have you had it scanned for codes ?

94 Buick Pk Ave. restart problems

I had the same problem once, bought a new radiator pressure cap and it ended. Though the Code 41 doesn't play with that theory.

Look at this post for a 1990 Buick, scroll about halfway down the page or search for the word "code 41."
