Cylinder #1 Misfire detected

Posted on Aug 15, 2008

  • Denis Aube Aug 17, 2008

Well, this could be caused by many things, bad spark plug, spark plug wire, distributor cap, rotor button are the usual culprits. If the code keeps coming up routinely and the above items are proven good, there could be a mechanical problem with the cylinder... Bad fuel injector, piston, valve, piston rings, valve spring... But 98% of the time the problem is spark related... Actually sometimes, if the event (code) happens only once and you never see any engine performance or driveability issues after a while (the engine never misses again) this code can be attributed to a random, unusual, well i don't have any better words for this "engine fart...". Rarely, for some vague reason, a cylinder or cylinders might misfire for a few engine revolutions for no apparent reason and never do it again. Sure, there was a reason for it, but not a repairable one...

SOURCE: code P0301

The fault code P0301 means "Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected", you can erase the code with related code reader, such as the Godiag T300+ , it has many kinds of functions, but the price is a little expensive.
