A new "G12" coolant additive, recognized by its red color, has been introduced during m.y. 1997, replacing the "G11" used previously.
The "G11" and "G12" coolant additives are NOT interchangeable, and must NEVER be mixed. Use only water or "G12" coolant additive G 012 A8D A1 to top up cooling systems filled with "G12" = GLYSANTIN Alu Protect/G30 silikatfrei

I have a 2000 reg - tdisline_520.jpg

Once coolants stabilize and provided the system remains sealed and airtight (has not overheated where it vented) then the system should not require any flushing or changing of the coolant (specific to HOAT/G12 type coolants).

G12 after about 5,000-10,000 miles reaches that point of stability where the coolant has neutralized any reactions that may occur. As long as that stability is not thrown off, leave it alone.

In the case of the TDI the water pump requires replacement, this should be the only time that the cooling system is drained and flushed and the system refilled. sticking with G12 insures that the original balance of chemicals are maintained as close as possible to the stabilization point to eliminate any risk of system contamination or corrosion.

It's really simple, G12 out, G12 in, to insure system protection and integrity.

Audi 1.9 TD, Heater blows hot then cold and the temperture rise's intermiterly

yep Jeremy is is right its the heater core, they still will flow good but not heat, which is very confusing. I donated one that I replaced to science and cut it open, there are many tubes that make up the heater core and inside each tube is a twisted piece of metal that looks like a DNA strand or something. these become coated with the stop leak aditives in the G12(audi/vw factory coolant). G12 is similar to dexcool, it does the same thing except it is pink and has way better anti corrosion propertys.

I need to change the front bumper and the driver side wishbone on a W reg Polo tdi, could i get illustrated diagrams and easy to follow information about doing these two jobs please? Thankyou.

It would help if you join a VW forum that has Polo group. You'll have a higher chance for info regarding the vehicle.
The control arm is pretty much straight forward, I'd advice you to mark the balljoint (bottom 3 bolts carrier) by using a center punch before you loosen this bolts. This will help you put it back the same exact position and lessen the probability of messing the alignment in a big way.

I'd also suggest to replace the control arm rubber bushings if the mileage is quite high.

Engine revs on its own! vw polo

There are many number of reasons for this problem...but a VERY common one is a faulty thermo sensor which controls air / fuel ratio.

The VW specs for oil is way over-hyped.

What does the coolent temprature sesor look like on my xreg golf

  • It has a black connector by the cylinder head. Follow the radiator hose.
  • Before doing anything make sure the engine temp is cold.
  • Release pressure from reservoir by cracking the cap open.
  • Jack the car up and place on stands. Place a wide catching device right under the lower radiator hose.
  • There would be a valve you can open and close to evacuate the coolant from the system for servicing.
  • Pull the horse shoe lock from the sensor and replace new o-ring together with the sensor.
  • Reverse procedure when you are putting it back together.
  • Only use 50/50 Filtered water and VW G12 anti-freeze

Hi, Try turning on blower, set to warmest setting.

If the blower is blowing cold air, the problem could be Water Pump needs replacing!
