Question about 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

1999 Malibu not holding RPM's

This has happened before & I checked air filter, etc & the next morning the car ran fine. It started again this AM going to work...will only go if I KEEP my foot on gas...not good on transmission when I leave park I am sure. I need ideas to try before having to go to the shop & pay money I just dont have right now. Basically there is no idle & not holding RPM's. Any ideas/suggestions?
Thank you
Anna

My car is doing the same thing. i've changed everything from the fule filter to the air idle sensor, Map sensor and the Camshaft sensor and my car's RPM gauge is still shaking and will cut off if i sit at a red light to long. :(

CRANKING NOT STARTING

Sounds like either the fuel filter or the catalytic converter. You will need to check the back pressure of the exahust and the fuel pressure after it fails. This I say because you did not mention any trouble codes.(check engine light on or flashing)

My 99 Malibu starts idling rough and dies at anything lower than 500 rpm. I have to brake while pressing the gas pedal in order to keep the car from dying. It has died on me while going downhill at 40 mph,...

ok does it shake badly, the engine that is? you may have alot going on. is the check engine light on steady or flashing? and 4 cylinder or 6 please

1999 Buick Regal GSX won't stay running......

It's probably the mass airflow sensor and/or oxygen sensors.

Get the fuel pressure tested. Might need to change the fuel filter or (Worst case) the sending unit
