Took trans coolent lines loose and can't get them to go back in radiator


Happens to me all too often. Are they metal lines with screw-in brass fittings? They won't line up just right? If so, be careful to not cross-thread them. Sometimes you can loosen the fitting at other end of line to get just enough slack to get it right for screwing in at the radiator. Or it might be easier to loosen the radiator mounts, so you could move the radiator to line up with the cooler lines fittings. Good luck, or if you have something different, post back.

Overheating


Ok, to review, it got hot climbing a mountain, and stayed cool going down the same mountain ?
Make sure the mechanic did replace the thermostat, and have somebody check the fan clutch. An exhaust restriction could also cause it to run hot under a load.
There is a small chance the water pump impeller is shot inside the water pump and not pushing the coolant thru the system.

You need to replace the timing belt in your 2005 Audi A4 1.8T at 112000 miles (180000 km). Replace also all timing kit: belt, water pump, guide roller, and tension roller. See picture below:

Convertible top has to be put down/up manually.


Just took my 2004 A4 convertible (25,000 miles) to the dealer...needed new module...cost $375 for part and $300 for labor. Maybe this should be a recall item.

Put truck in reverse and forward, wouldn't move, took on a 150-200 mile trip a week ago, no problem; could a vacuum line or something similar be loose?

Rear heat problem


Have the samw problem withm o5 took to the dealer and they said it is a know problem and it will cost 635.00 to get an auxilury pump for the heater core in the back. Something about not enough coolent.

Overheating


Sounds like there's a leak in your coolant system or the gagues are malfunctioning. My friend has a 2005 Spectra5 and he has been having problems with the check engine light. Apparently it's a software problem that he's waiting for the manufacturer to have a fix for it. My recommendation is to take it into the dealership right away, perhaps even have it towed in just in case it may cause damage to the engine to drive it as is. A suggestion when you have a brand new car, you should not take it on long freeway trips (i.e. do not let the engine set at a fixed engine speed including idle) for more than 10 minutes at a time until you have 500 miles on it to allow it to properly break in first.
