Question about Isuzu Trooper

1990 Jackaroo has a fuel problem that has me stumped, while driving and you accelerate even a little bit and the motor almosts chokes and loses all power, but while idling it will rev up well and idles nicely! I have checked points, plugs and fuel filters but i'm worried it could be injectors and not sure how to go about checking them!

1990 Jackaroo has a fuel problemThis is usually due to fuel starvation.

  1. Replace the fuel filter.
  2. You can check if the fuel pump is working when you disconnect the filter hose.
  3. Place something under the filter and the disconnected hose and get somebody to turn the ignition switch to the on position
  4. The fuel should be pumped through the hose that is connected to the back of the car.
  5. If the front hose is disconnected the fuel flow will be minimal or none at all.
  6. When you put the new filter in make sure the flow arrow is pointing the same way as the old filter was.
  7. If no arrow is visible connect the (Front is " < " this part of the arrow) and (Back is Shaft / Straight part of the arrow)
  8. The Front of the filter should be pointed to the front of the car
  9. the Back of the filter should be connected to the hose that is connected to the fuel tank.
If there is no petrol being pumped out when the filter is disconnected, this usually means that the fuel pump is not working and needs to be replaced.

Sounds like a bad MAP sensor. Check the vacuum hose to it. check the bottom side of air intake tube to engine between the air flow meter and engine for hole burned in to it. Could also be a bad TPS

1990 Oldsmobile 88 Royale acceleration and brake problems.

You could have a weak fuel pump causing it not to accelerate to a higher speed. The brakes going to the floor indicates that there may still be air in your brake system, ora bad brake booster not creating the needed vacuum for high velocity braking. The other thing is if you have an EBCM (Electronic brake control module) it could have dirty connections or just be going bad. Hope this helps.

Almost no acceleration engine will not top 2K RPM under load.

Have you checked the air inlet sensor on the air filter. If this fails the engine goes into safety mode which it seems has happened. I don't know the specifics of the Santa fe but this is a feature of most modern electronic engine systems.

It loses power on acceleration and serious loss of power on hills

sounds like a clogged fuel filter. you need to have the engine pressure checked for leaks, you can rent the pressure checker at autozone, it connects to ur radiator and u pump pressure into the cooling system if u find water leaking around the head u know u have a blown head gasket. if ok then check the cylinder compression should beable to rent this also. it screws into the spark plug holes has a gauge on it. alternator problem w/ the light is probaly you need to tighten the belt.hope this helps!!!

sounds like faulty cam shaft or crankshaft postioning sensor, or could be simple timing problem check belt positioning and allignment marks in repair manual if correct check sensors (details in troubleshooting section of repair manual) if still stumped either buy a OBDI scanner and have at it easy to use, or take it to a shop with OBDI diagnostics. also sometimes even a faulty oxygen sensor can do that, or air mass sensor ut to be sure scan it!
