heater core could be plugged, only way to check is to pull the heater hoses off and try to run water through it, if no water or little water then its plugged.. you would need to replace.

97 subaru outback 2.5 over heats going up hill at about 3000 rpms

Check the oil again. If the level is higher than it was after you changed it and/or is pasty again (kind of like milkshake) then you have coolant getting into it--most likely through a leaking or blown head gasket.

Whwerwe is the thermostat located on a 2002 subaru

It is where the lower radiator hose attaches to the water pump. You do have to drain the fluid to replace the thermostat. Good luck and have a great day.

Car is overheating. How do i replace the thermostat so the coolant can circulate through the bottom of the system.

The thermostat is located on the drivers bottom front corner of the motor. You will see what looks like a conventional thermostat housing bolted in with two bolts.Starting with a cold engine drain the coolant. Loosen the clamp for the lower radiator hose where it connects to the thermostat housing and pull the hose off. Remove the two bolts and you will find the thermostat under it. Make note of the orientation of the original thermostat. Install the new thermostat with a new gasket in the same orientation as the original and bolt on the housing. Reinstall the hose. Be sure to close the radiator drain and refill with the correct coolant/water mix.

1993 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.2 liter engine, has and over heating problem. Replaced thermostat, replaced water pump, and replaced radiator with all new. Still over heating! Any ideas??

Usually the main reason for a Subaru to over heat is a blown head gasket. If it is pushing fluid out through the overflow bottle. I would suspect a blown head gasket.

90 subaru legacy overheats, wheres the thrmostat

When a car overheats it's rarely the thermostat. They just don't go bad that often. If it overheats when you idle a lot, it's the fan and with electric fans, it's almost always the fan motor. But to find the thermostat, follow the top radiator hose to the engine and there it is.
