Question about 1994 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

I am about to purchase a gorgeous 1994 xj6. the present owner is very honest about the problems she has had with the car which are primarily electrical. Now she has battery drain problems because the car has been sitting idle for a few days. Also electrical problems like blinking lights. She is not charging much for the purchase..$2800. I just want a car that will last for a few years without paying thousands a year for repairs. My question is... Can this battery draw/drain problem be resolved once and for all? much can i expect to spend on repairs and maintenance every year?

fairly easy to maintain once you get the hang of it ,most parts on this model are the same as the ford mondeo (UK) main things that go are the front shock absorber top bushes ,it clunks over bumps ,and the valves burn out with unleaded fuel ,yes i know its meant to run on unleaded but the stelite coating on the valve seat faces leave a lot to be desired .Like anything mechanical it wears out but in saying that once you have driven a jag up the motorway and you have have to put your watch in the boot as the ticking is too loud then will appreciate it big time ,Their is no job on the jag thats difficult to do just big and heavy like working on a truck ,these cars are ok secondhand for a mechanic but if you know nothing about cars leave well alone as garages will charge you extra for the name just like a merc but mine is a 4.0litre straight six and it can hold its own against a porsche or any merc of the same class and as for a straight 6 mustang?? well just flash it to move over as mine will kick down at over a ton and still keep pulling at 150mph when i bottles out

Since this car doesn't have a glove box, you don't open it. Most 1994 cars used what used to be the glove box space to install the passenger air bag. Later cars solved the space problem, and the glove box came back.

How to replace a headliner 94 XJ6

you have to get a new headliner, special glue, take it all apart ie..lights panels mirrors, take some of xanex, and drink a lot of beer and then let a pro do it. Honestly, it costs about 150.00 to have it replaced, they can do it and have it back in about 24 hours. It is a ROYAL pain to do , unless you have pounds of patience floating around and a very understanding wife to stay away from you for 2 or 3 days and plenty of ventilation,I suggest you let someone else do it. Good luck.
