Top dead center and bottom dead center also known as ( TDC) and (BDC) Are two different positions of the piston while an engine is running. TDC is where the piston is as high as it can go in the cylinder and BDC is as low as the piston can go in the cylinder.

1993 4.3 top dead center marks

Wow! I did not know that 1993 had a top dead center! Okay, so 1993 had between 365 and 366 days in it, so divide 365.5 by two, and you get 182.75 days. My guess it it would fall in June or July! Do you agree? That would be very close to 1993's dead center! And weather-wise, it would be close to the top, when it came to desirable weather. So, there is your answer! The top dead center of 1993 was right around July 1, 1993, give or take 3 days!

Cleaned tank fuel pump engages once in a while.weird how it will start while 1@4 switched same as 2@3 but why once a hour what am i missing new timing belt on the marks so not out of time

You still can be out of time 360 degrees if you did not set engine at top dead center on #1 compression stroke so recheck set on #1 top dead center and make sure the cylinder is at the very top of combustion chamber and not at bottom feel in the spark plug hole when you remove it with something to verified that it's at top good luck

How many chain link do I count to set the timing

When you are setting timing you are setting top dead center and bottom dead center. Once established based on the marks on the crank and cam you adjust top dead and BDC by degrees in ADVANCED timing or behind/retarded timing by degrees by counting links. Each link used to be 5 degrees. Check repair manual on link values! they change with each engine and maker.

When resting the timing on my 90cc Baja atv where should the piston set in location with the valves top dead center or bottom dead center

Every engine I've had a chance to play with uses TDC as the reference point for setting timing both ignition and valves.

How to get number 1 cylinder top dead center when motor is not running on a gmc 4.3 1991

With truck off, you can turn the crankshaft nut from bottom of engine. To bring to top dead center. Remove #1 plug and insert a straw or similar into plug hole on top of piston. When the piston just starts to go back down from all the way up, that's top dead center, The number one cylinder in the 4.3 V-6 is the front wire on the driver-side of the engine. God-Bless!

Timing guides collapsed dropped timing chains.

if you have the v6 with the 4.0 OHV set the #1 piston to top dead center and then when looking at the gears where your timing chain goes look for a dot on your engion near the small gear and align the dot with the dot on the small gear. you will have to put the chain around both the top and bottom gears at the same time you might need to turn the piston a little past top dead center when doing this to get the little gear to sit in place with the slot on the back side of the gear. ( i just rebuilt my engion )

Need to know where the timing marks are on cam and cranck for 1991 oldsmobile sillouetechanging the timing chain.how do i line up the marks?

Finding the timing marks is simple, it is an impression (a small arrow) on both the crank and the cam. As for the exact time set, I would refer to the owner's manual but if you are doing it off the cuff pull the number one piston top dead center, line up the rotor button with the number one piston and set crank at top dead center and cam at bottom dead center. This will be a good starting point, but the owner's manual will give you more exact instructions.

Cant find crank timing mark on 1988 2.0

I assume you have the head cover off. the mark on the top timing belt wheel is the timing mark. make sure it is top dead center. you can check this by putting a screw driver in #1 spark plug hole. if you can't get it in very far because it runs into something then you don't have it top dead center. you can turn it by turning the fly wheel nut on the bottom pulley. of course you will need to have the timing belt off for this. good luck. if you get it together and you have no compression the you didn't get top dead center either. This happened to me when I removed my head to have the valves done. Good luck.
