NOPE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE FRONT FENDERS AND BUMPER COVER BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT COOLANT HOSES AND REMOVE COOLANT FANS.YOU CANT GET TO RADIATOR UNLESS YOU REMOVE BOTH FENDERS AND BUMPER COVERS.

THEY WILL JUST LET ANYONE COME ON HERE AND POST THEIR BAD INFORMATION!

YOU DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE EITHER FENDER! YOU DO HOWEVER WILL HAVE TO PULL THE FRONT BUMPER AND RADIATOR SUPPORT.

I HAVE DONE SEVERAL OF THESE CARS AND NEVER PULLED A FENDER. I FIND IT MUCH EASIER JUST TO PULL THE ENTIRE RAIDATOR SUPPORT WITH EVERYTHING STILL ATTACHED (LESS THEN 10 BOLTS TOTAL ON THE SUPPORT). ONCE YOU HAVE THE BOLTS OUT FOR THE SUPPORT, YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE RADIATOR HOSES AND FAN CONNECTIONS. I have them out in about 40 minutes. You may have to recharge the AC ($20 walmart kit) if you disconnect the AC lines.

REMOVE FENDER COVERS AND BUMPER COVERS NOT REMOVE THE WHOLE BUMPER AND FENDER DID NOT SAY ANY THING ABOUT REMOVING THE FENDERS AND BUMP.YOU NEED TO REMOVE BUMPER COVER AND FENDER COVERS TO DISCONNECT THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSES FROM THE RADIATOR,YOU HAVE SAFELY RAISE VECHICLE SUPPORT ON JACKS STANDS MAKE SURE CAR PARKED ON SOLID LEVEL GROUND.ONCE CAR RAISED,YOU DISCONNECT THE LOWER COOLANT HOSES AND REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FROM THE FAN FAN THERMO SWITCH. ALSO DISCONNECT THE COOLING FAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, REMOVE THE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER. DISCONNECT THE RETAINING CLAMPS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING LINES, REMOVE THE CONDENSOR MOUNTING BOLTS AND SEPARATE THE CONDENSOR FROM THE RADIATOR WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE AIR CONDITIONING LINES,REMOVE THE RADIATOR AND COOLING FANS AS A ASSEMBLY FROM CAR, THEN REMOVE THE COOLING FANS AND SHROUD FROM THE RADIATOR.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack and jack stand
  • Resealable container
  • Engine coolant
  • Distilled water
    • 1

Jack up the front end of the VW Beetle and put it securely on a jack stand.

    • 2

Open the drain on the bottom of the radiator and drain the fluids into a resealable container. Remove the front wheels and inner fender liners. Take off the splash pan.

    • 3

Unhook the headlights and take them out.

    • 4

Remove the bolts and screws holding the front bumper and fender, remove the front clips. Carefully pull off the fenders and bumper covers.

    • 5

Unfasten the radiator mounting bolts and remove the radiator carefully from the car. Replace it with a new radiator and reattach the fenders, bumper covers, headlights, and all associated components in the reverse order. Be sure the electrical connections are connected properly.

    • 6

Fill the radiator with a mixture of half engine coolant and half distilled water. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes with the radiator cap off. This will bleed the air from the system. Check the fluid level and add more if necessary, then put the radiator cap on securely.

    • 7

Lift the car enough to pull out the jack stand, then lower it and remove the jack.

How to take front fender off to reach radiator

DO NOT REMOVE FENDER. What you are looking for is to remove the cross member that the hood latch bolts up to. You will have to remove a few plastic clips that retain the grille to that part but you should not have to remove any major body panels

Remove left front fender 1967 Chevelle

There are quite a few bolts on this fender. One on the bottom of the rocker, one between the the door and fender on the "A" pillar, one on the cal, one on the firewall then several on the inner fender and several on the radiator core support. after these are removes you need to take ou the head light assembly and you should have a fender brace under the front of the car. Hope this helps.

Front bumper of 94 cad eldorado slipping on driver side - need to

There are 4 points of attachment for the front bumper. The nose has two long bolts that go through each of the 2 horizontal shock absorbers and screw into clips attached to the bumper reinforcement. You can access each bolt head with a long socket extension inserted in front of the fog lights.

The remaining two points of attachment are on the side of each of the front fenders, they are plastic guides that meet up with groves on the inside of the bumber sides, as you slide the bumper onto the reinforcement bumper, you line up the bumper groves with these plastic fender-mounted guides and you will reach a point where the bumper snaps in place.

I suspect the driver side bumper sliped out of the inner grove (best caes scenario), or the bumper goves cracked or the plastic fender-mounted guide cracked.

Get under the car to take a look, alternatively undo the 2 front nose bolts and remove the bumper, actually not a big job, and you will then be able to assess the problem.

Hope this helps.

Replacing front fender

My son went around a curve one night and hit a tree stump that was in the middle of the road. It put the front bumper under the truck, busted the radiator, the framing brace that supported the radiator and the A/C condenser. There was even wood in the frame from the impact. He also needed to replace a fender from a previous accident. After getting everything installed on the engine, they had a problem putting the fenders back on.

The passenger's side fender fit perfectly except where the hood was hitting in one spot. The fender was about 2 to 3 inches too high and the guys were threatening to take a hammer and beat it down. But after getting a stronger light and searching the frame of the truck from all angles, they found out there was still one bolt that needed to be removed. Once it was removed, the fender went on smoothly. They didn't get to use the hammer like they were threatening!
