Question about 2007 Kia Rio 5 Sx M/T Hatchback

Electrical system issues

I had to jump my car battery off last week and after I did, my radio stopped working. I thought it was the fuse, so I check it...and the fuses were fine. After pulling out the fuses and putting them all back in, now my gas gage, RPM gage and speedometer all don't work anymore. They light up, but they don't move. I have no idea what to do and I am a student, so I have no money to take it some place. Is there a restart or reset button I can push to reset the computer inside?

we just took our Sportage in with the same problem. They told us it was probably a code but after inspecting it they said they can't fix it. It was KIA roadside ***. that provided the jump. The dealer is telling us to contact them. What a load of ****. There has got to be a simple fix to get the radio working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Kia Rio 8 2008 model and i had my car jumped off and my radio hasn't turned on since the Kia Auto sport of pensacola fl said i must have reversed the cables, which i know didn't happen my dad jumped it off and i as standing there! Just a way to get outta fixing it. My fuses are also fine and to have a replacement radio from kia put in by kia will cost me 1,011 just for radio not including labor and other including costs! So I have decided to have a audio store put a cd player in and hook it up. I have looked at all possible aspects and the radio has to b fried sum how.

I believe what happened is the battery died and the computer lost its memory, you didn't hook the jumper cables up backwards at all did you even for a minute?
Does it run now do you have a battery meter what does it read?

Sounds like an electrical issue... When was the last time you changed your batt.? It could be that you need to change your battery.

RECENTLY HAD MY CAR JUMPED BECAUSE I LEFT THE HEADLIGHTS ON. NOW MY RADIO ISN'T WORKING. DID I FRY THE RADIO AND COULD A REPLACEMENT RADIO FIX THIS OR COULD THIS ALSO BE AFFECTED BY THE WIRING?

When jumping, or anything else electrical on a vehicle, always connect negative LAST. You could have fried the fuse or the radio. Check fuse first. On newer vehicles jumping is dangerous and can cause system failure.

I returned home from a week vacation and left my 2009 Honda Civic in the garage completely fine, no trouble at all. When I got back and tried to start it up, it was completely dead. Ok, dead battery was...

The first thing I want to mention is that if the vehicle goes crazy like that make sure you are jumping it correctly with positive and negative in the right locations. The reason I mention is because if it is jumped incorrectly it will cause the vehicle to make the alarm go off like that and could fry your whole electrical system. Try jumping the car it may be a alarm issue, that goes off when power returns to the vehicle, use the remote to try and shut it off. If that gives you no luck, then turn next to your charging system. This would mean your alternator or starter, either one of the two could have gave out on you during that period. If that still does not work check all your fuses to see if there are any popped, and also try and get it to a autorepair shop, they would be able to determine of a sensor has affected an electrical component within the system. My best gues would be either a short or a problem with your charging system. Those two aspects would be you'r best bet.

Hope This Helps!

My 2000 Volkswagen Beetle takes a jump then the next day won't...

This description sounds like a grounding issue. When mulitple systems fail or alter as you describe, the most common issue is grounds.

Run temporary ground from battery to frame, engine, and somewhere inside the car to ground, for testing purposes.

When you find that one ground connection resolves the symptons, you have the neighborhood of your issue. If you cannot locate the disconnected or damaged ground, you can install an additional ground circuit, with the same effect.

Dashboard fault

I too have a Peugeot 206 - and has given me nothing but grief - mostly electrical.

The fact you are suddenly losing systems, and draining battery points to a short in the wiring loom - which is a common fault on pugs.

I advise you trace the wire from the rear heater to the fusebox (it's labeled in there). Use a cheap multimeter - pull the fuse out and check the wiring both to the heater (resistance to good earth) and the supply( check for 12V )with the switch on. You may end up undoing the loom cover in the engine bay - but check your feet area first for any damaged wires. Try wiggling the loom with the ignition switch on and in neutral to find the problem. Often just taping it up properly solves it.

Check the fuses. There is a good chance you might have blown one or a few if you some how didnt connect the jumper correctly which would explain some of the accessories not working.
