sorry i forgot you should check the tire if they are wearing off evenly, if not that can cause a rubbing noise to occur, if the tire are not wearing evenly that can cause by the not being aliened, tie rods ball joints these three things can cause the tire dis alinement's and it will not wear-off evenly, and also the tire air pressure all that can contribute to that noise.

Rubbing/grinding noise

Usually the strut bearing will make this noise upon turning a corner and hitting a rut or pot hole when turning. A wheel bearing will make a low pitched whinning sound constantly

Hearing noises from the driver side front and rear wheels

Jack up that side of the car and turn the wheels by hand to narrow down where the noise is comming from. You may have binding of brakes, if you are driving slow down the road and let the steering wheel go does the car pull to one side ? does it get worse if you touch the brake ? If it does, check the front.

Repeat the experiment and rotate wheels at same time. Might be just coincidence and it is actually a belt. My guess would be power steering.

How to check front bearings on 2000 kia sportage

hi there, there are two ways to check your bearings, 1, is to jack up the vehicle so the wheel is free of the ground and to check for any play or roughness in the bearing by spinning the wheel, if the bearing is worn then you will hear a droning noise, 2 is to drive along a quiet road, at a speed where you can hear the noise, gently turn the steering from left to right so the vehile load is being shifted from one side to the other, if you have a wheel bearing fault the noise's pitch will alter, hope this helps
