Unless you have a crank pulley puller and know how to set the air gap for the sensor leave it to a tech to do the job.that way also if the new one is damaged by the shop it will have to replace the damaged new one with another and not charge you.if you do it and damage it you will have to buy another sensor.

If the mechanic wants 2000 to fix it . find another mechanic. part is about 60.00 and labor time is 2 hours. So 200.00 would be more like it. They are not that hard to replace if you have the tools to do it. check into it.

What module under the distributor on a 1990 grand Prix could make it start but not stay running? I was told there's a module under the distributor that goes bad on them??

I am going to assume you have the 3.1 V6 engine. That engine does not use a distributor.
Instead it has a crank sensor, ignition module, and 3 coils.
The ignition module would be in the bottom of the distributor along with the crank sensor if you had a distributor.
So in your case, the module or the crank sensor could be faulty.
A mechanic would check each component with a scanner.

Where are the sensors in grand prix 2000 car would die going down road would pull over and wait for stereo clock to shut down the car would restart and may go two or three weeks before doing the same thing...

sounds like a crank sensor went bad.sometimes in early stages they are intermittent then they finally go bad and car wont run. look into that. as far as the key switch it could be orn out or your key could have a small nick on it

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix... The Abs

the trac shuts off when theres a check engine light or a abs light on, most likely theres a bad abs wheel sensor but you will have to have the abs computer scaned to find out which one it is. hope this helps.

Stalling. starts 15 minutes later. runs good for a week.

O.M.G. THE BATTERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT 80-95 BUCKS. AND THE TERMINAL IS ABOUT 5 BUCKS TO BUY. TAKE THE CAR TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT CHECKS THE ENGINE CODES FOR FREE.......MAKE SURE THAT THEY CAN CHECK FOR PENDING CODES AS WELL. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A CRANK SENSOR. OH AND BY THE WAY, MOST AUTO PARTS STORES WILL INSTALL A BATTERY THAT YOU PURCHASE AT THEIR STORE FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEE.!!!!!!!!!!!!..... PLEASE FIND A BETTER MECHANIC. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED, CAUSE I AM REALLY CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT YOU FIND.

My low oil level light comes on

i presume that motor has a few miles on it. possibly the motor is so worn that it can't maintain a decent oil pressure. quick fix is to add heavier oil which hopefully will last for abit. be careful if you are in a cold climate as the thicker oil will make it harder to crank over in the winter.
