There is a shim adjustment on the yoke, but this is not usually the whining noise. Check the oil. Remove the plug and the oil should just come out of it. If it doesn't add some 80w90 weight till it does. Ford makes a pretty rugid differential. I have heard these screaming and still last for years. Built ford tough. Just remember to keep check on the oil.

If its a whine sound then there is a worn differential bearing and you can`t adjust a noisy bearing with out replacing it.you could also have a pinion to ring gear noise if the proper clearance is incorrect.however a bearing is usually the cause of a noise or clearance problem.while driving if the noise gets worse when accelerating and decelerating then it will be a pinion bearing/pinion clearance problem.if the noise changes while causing the car to sway back and forth then its usually the side bearings of the carrier gears.you will probably have to re-bearing the differential and check the condition of the gear assembly for damage.

I have a 1998 P38 Range Rover and the rear diff tends to lock up when doing tight turns. Can the limited lip be adjusted ?

yes
but it is for a professional transmission shop to do the adjustment
problems as stated start from the wrong oil being used in the differential
have a diff oil change done , flush out the diff the put the correct limited slip diff oil back in
it is not standard diff oil but special oil

There is a load wine when going around a right turn. Sound comes from the left side of the vehicle.

noises on turns can be from axle bearings ( most probable) or diff centre gears ( normally on turning in both directions)

Diff oil check, wines when driving.

the diff fill plug in the rear of the housing is the oil level for a diff.If it wines when driving then it will be the large pinion gear bearing that is failing.

When going around some corners there is a noise from rear of my 2000 Troopy 4WD. What is causing it, and how do I fix it?

Check and adjust the wheel bearings. May be too loose allowing the brakes to rub . Check the diff oil magnetic plug as troopys have a limited slip diff that may be failing from the incorrect diff oil in use.. The clutches in the diff may be / or have failed

My daughters friend replaced the shift cable on her 1996 Sunfire 75K. It will now only shift from 1st to 2nd but not to 3rd. I can also hear a wining sound in park. Can you adjust this cable?

My name is Tom and I am here to help.

Yes, there is an adjustment for the shifter. I do not know who changed the cable. I would suggest they adjust the cable to remedy this. I could walk someone through, but I would need to talk to the person directly.

Let me know if you want to do this.

DIFF WINE

Put some Amsoil 75-90 synthetic gear oil in it and it will quiet it down a lot and make it last a long time.
