Question about Dodge Durango

1 Answer

My 06 Durango A/T slips at a cold start for 15 seconds or so. After that it performs perfect. Fluid / Filter changed regularly and is in spec. It would seem as though the fluid is leaking out of a componant and then pumps up when running for 15 to 30 seconds.

Itis trying to tell you you shouldn't be driving it till it's warm. I won't move my car till at least 1 minute after starting regardless of temp.

2002 chrysler concorde 3.5 transmission slips when cold

Plz have fluid and filter changed in transmission. Sounds like filter is clogged and starving transmission of fluid until it warms up and thins out the fluid..Hope this helps.

Transmission slips a little when cold and in cold weather only

My solution would be to recommend a transmission stabilizer additive. Lucas Oil makes a transmission stabilizer. The cost is about $12. Be sure to read the instructions...you need to warm the motor and ******...add through the transmission dipstick fill tube. This additive can work better than a fluid and filter change...depending on your mileage, many mechanics do not recommend opening the transmission pan to drain and replace fluid, and filter. This additive is the best one that I have used. It works to reseal and lubricate your transmission seals, and bands. Hope this helps.

Slips when cold . 15 min it gets warm and quits slipping , an starts shifting a little hard. Not low on fluid . automatic

Hi, if the transmission starts to slip, shift oddly, makes noise or misbehaves, check to see that the ATF level is correct and if it is correct, get the tranny flushed, and the filter changed....

Transmission slips when cold

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If you have this problem, I strongly suggest that you replace the fluid. If the fluid is burnt it tends to slip.

Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya! Have a good one!

My durango slips out of gear when you get on it, but if you just drive it like a normal person and not have a led foot it dosnt slip at all. could this be the speed sencer.

What engine does your D have? Is the fluid level proper, and when was the trans last serviced??

Could indeed be speed sensor. Your trans also has bands that should be adjusted each time fluid/filter are changed.

2000 DURANGO 5.2 AUTO

I would get the transmission fluid and filter changed by an ASE certified mechanic. That transmission is designed to put itself into second gear as a limp home mode. If you only have the problem when it is cold, you might still have a chance to save your transmission from total failure by changing.
