Question about Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
I'm afraid I can't send you a diagram but I see nobody else has sent you one either. So here goes. Your odd numbered cylinders, 1-3-5-7 are on the driver's side front to back. Your even numbered cylinders, 2-4-6-8 are on the pasenger side front to back.
Your distributor cap should have 4 hold down screws placed at 2 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 8 o'clock and 11 o'clock. Your number 1 cylinder is the first plug tower toward the firewall (or behind) the 2 o'clock hold down screw. The distributor runs counter clockwise or backwards and the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
Your timing depends on which model you have. All models except Tornado are timed at 16 degrees before TDC. The Tornado is timed at 12 degrees. The timing also is set with the engine running at 1100 RPM not the traditional idle speed. Hope this helps.
