Check the oil dipstick for water or antifreeze, also with car running go to the rear and see if you can smell antifreeze from your exhaust. If either of these are a yes you have a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or even possible a bad heater core. Is there moisture on the passenger side floor pan? If there is moisture there then a your heater core is bad.

Why have my coolient fan stopped?

If it is front wheel drive with an electric fan motor check the relay and fuse first. you can run a jump wire from hot wire to fan straight to battery if fan still does nothing then motor is bad.

I have a 2002 chevy silverado 1500. I'm not sure if it's heater core or if it's a hose. The needs coolient light keeps coming on and the smell of coolient and vapor/steam is coming out of all the vents....

The heater core is located on the passenger side behind the blower motor. It's fairly involved process to remove this thing. You can see the heater core lines entering the cab from the engine compartment. You'll need a lot of patience and the ability to contort yourself to get this thing out. Get a Haynes manual to guide you through the process, money well spent in my opinion.
Check the lines to see if they are tight, the ones in the engine compartment that enter into the cab. More than likely though, the core has a pin hole in it and the coolant is being sprayed around by the blower fan, which would explain the steam from the vent and odour. It is possible however, that a hose is leaking on the engine somewhere and it is being drawn in by the fresh air vent located near where the wipers rest.
Is it pooling on the floor mat or is the carpet wet? Then it's a breech of the core. Careful around a hot system, you can be severely burned by hot coolant.

Where is my radiator coolant going, not leaking onto ground

If it is not leaking to the ground, then it could be leaking into the engine and going out the exhaust pipe.

A new head gasket would be required here.

96 darango overheating

most of the times its your radiator. you must have it cleaned out and sometimes its your hoses that collapse. take it to a radiator shop and have them clean out the radiator and they should tell you if the radiator was clogged up. if it isn't clogged up your next bet is the hoses on the rradiator.

are you losing water via a leak,no, then check your oil filler cap. if it a white creamy colour inside your headgasket has blown which willl account for lose of water and unreliability
