How would I know if the motor mounds are bad on a 98 cadillac deville

Simple test should show broken mounts. Place the tranny in drive and with the brakes full on rev the engine and watch for excessive engine movement sideways. Check rear engine mount (rear axle drive) try to lift the rear of the tranny and see the movement in the rear engine mount. For side mounted engines the mount bolts should be in the center of the rubbers . If they are to the bottom of the rubbers , the mounts need replacing.

Front right motor mount bad

Motor mounts can be replaced with some basic tools. You will probably need a floor jack and a block of 2x4 to raise the engine by the oil pan.A prybar will help to get the old mount out.You will need the correct size sockets/wrenches,of course. This job is much easier with a lift, but can be done without one.

How can I change fuel injectors on a Toyota Tacoma 98 4 cylinder

The Toyota Tacoma has a fuel injector that mixes fuel with air. This technology almost completely replaced carburetors in the late 1980s and its programmable firmware allows the same hardware to be used with different fuels. A fuel injector is only a nozzle and a valve; it still requires a pump to inject the fuel into the engine.
    • 1 Determine which fuel injector your Toyota Tacoma will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models made before 2005 may have a 2.4L, 2.7L or 3.4L engine. The current version may have a 2.7L or 4.0L engine.
    • 2 Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the engine under cover subassembly and drain the engine coolant. Detach the intake air connector and disconnect the throttle body motor assembly with a socket wrench.
    • 3 Disconnect the fuel lines and remove the fuel pressure pulsation damper assembly with a socket wrench. Unplug the electrical connectors for the fuel and vacuum switching valve. Remove the engine wiring harness clamp and the air conditioning compressor clutch connector with a socket wrench.
    • 4 Remove the two fuel rail mounting bolts with a socket wrench and lift out the fuel rail with the injectors still attached. Pull out the fuel injectors and discard the old gaskets.
    • 5 Use new gaskets and install the new fuel injectors by reversing the removal procedure.
    • 6 Fill the coolant reservoir with coolant of the proper grade and type. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

My water pump is leaking and i would like to know how to take it off.

Using 18 mm socket place on tensioner and pushing towards back of car remove the serpentine belt. Now remove the 4 bolts that hold the pully onto the waterpump. Now loosen the motor mount (you will have to swing it out of your way unless you have short thin wall sockets to get to the right side bolts). You will also have to support your engine so that it doesn't drop, use a Bottle Jack and common sense. Do not place on harmonic balancer.
The metric sizes you will need are 10, 13, 15 and 18.
check out.thanks.

Belt routing on my Olds 98 LSS. It looks like I

on the v6- 3.1 yes you do. here is how to change it yourself, first of all, release tension on the belt tensioner. remove belt from pulleys, place a floor jack under engine on motor mount side to take off. put a piece of wood on jack to protect engine. jackup to engine with very slight pressure to hold it while removing mount. take off mount, remove old belt, put new belt on. the tensioner can be moved with a 3/8 drive in tensioner hole. after belt is on replace mount. then lower jack down. thats it!!

Easy way to change spark plugs on 2001 buick regal

Through history automobile engineers have delighted in finding ways to make changing sparkplugs difficult. There was a model in the 70's I believe called a Vega that you had to undo the motor mount and jack the engine up to even tough the sparkplug. Probably the greatest asset to changing these sparkplugs is to get a good set of sockets with a variety of extentions and universal joints with different size ratchets. Here is a clue to the right tools. f394d84.jpg
I once had a set of sockets with a ratchet that had no handle. You just put different sized extentions in the base for handles and it gave you more options. You might get extra ratchets and cut the handles to make them shorter to aid you in this job in the future. Also a good idea to remove the oxygen sensor from the exhaust downpipe and the bracket that holds the 02 sensor harness which is mounted to the exhaust manifold. The hardest part is getting the metal shields and spark plug boots off the rear plugs. During wire installation make sure you use hi-temp silicone grease on the plug boots so the metal shields come off easier next time around. Many will try to tilt the engine by taking motor mounts loose but getting that back together isn't worth the effort and may cause more problems than it's worth. Also mark your plug wires so you get them back in the same locations when you're done.

MY 98 FORD WINDSTAR STALLS WHEN I IDLE OR COMING TO A STOP I'VE CHANGED AIR FLOW SENSOR, AIR FILTER, SPARK PLUGS, AND FUEL FILTER ANY IDEAS?

I'd be looking at removing IAC valve, and cleaning it out with throttle body spray cleaner, and checking mounting gasket as well. Usually some success with cleaning it & spray ports it came out of, but if not you may need to replace it.

What size socket do I need to change the oil and brakes.

The oil drain plug is a 13 mm. The tools for the brakes, a 10 mm socket for the caliper pins, a flat head screwdriver, or a meduim size prybat to get the calipers out of the mounting bracket, and a 4" C-clamp to compress the pistons into the calipers so you can put the new pads on.
