Question about 2002 Land Rover Freelander

I have a thud noise sometimes when my freelander td4 2002 changes gear usually going from 1st to 2nd gear.. I think it may be a dif mount, also someone said to me about a fluid that may be low??? Anyone know what it could be and how to resolve it???

Have the u joints, transmission mount and half shafts inspected. These would be the most likely problems. Let me know what you find. I would use a trusted technician in your area to at least inspect it. If this is something you want to tackle, let me know that too.

I have a peugeot 206 allure I have clunking noise when changing from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd but not when changing to forth or coming down the gear I have had a new gear box clutch and thrust


It could be a loose/failed engine or transmission mount. Look at the tranny rear mount and check the bolts and condition. Also check the bell housing bolts AND the bolts connecting the engine flywheel to the clutch pressure plate.

I would suggest that you check the engine mounts as it sounds like there is an engine reaction and the mounts are not good enough to control the engine . The noise could be from the exhaust hitting the body because of the engine movement.

Grinds into 2nd gear and sometimes won't go into 2nd gear. Also noise in 1st gear


sounds like the synchro mesh is shot, look at rebuilt transmission , usually cheaper than the gears them selves.

check and replace filter and fluids just like oil it tends to burn up and blacking and needs to be changed and flushed checking your tranny fluid it should be a red color not a dark red or with a black tint

Transmission problem in E230 Benz


What you need to check is the transmission release bearing because if there is a clearance on the release bearing you will encounter this problem and also check the transmission oil.
