The charging needs to be checked while the problem is occuring to deffinative. Cables, ECU, loose connections at the ECU are all possiblities. Ignition switch is also possible if there are many keys or key chains attatched. You don't have to start a new problem/question when you respond. There should be a spot that says "reply". I hope this makes it easier. I'm going to look for a wiring manual in the mean time.

Battery light stays on after changing battery, alternater & plugin.

Is the system charging? You should have 14.2 14.6 volts at the battery. The charge light is controlled by the alternator internally. If the charging system is working, you could have a bad diode inside the alternator keeping the light on or a short/grounded circuit to the battery light

If I changed the alternator and the new alternator is good why would my battery light still be on

A open in the wiring somewhere , a burnt fuse or fusible link ! I don't know what make , model an year vehicle you have but most all newer vehicles the charging systems are controlled by the PCM / ECM - engine computer . You should start by doing a good inspection of the wiring harness an connectors on the alternator , no lose connections ! I would tell you to check for battery voltage on the heavier wire on the back of the alternator ! If I knew what make an model an year I could tell you what fuse's to look at ! I have put a new alternater, belt, and battery in my daughter's 1998 Hyundai Elantra and it still want hold a charge. As soon as we give it a jump then we try to move the car it cuts off. I don't know...

I would have the whole charging system tested with a Volt Meter before you change anything else. You can test the Alternator with a Volt Meter while the engine is running. The Alternator should be putting out between 13-14 volts, anything less and you have a bad Alternator. Check all Battery, Starter, Ground connections for loose or corroded wires and tighten or clean as needed.

Replaced battery after car sat for 1 year. battery idiot light comes on when vechle idles falls below 2 rpm

hi, if the battery light is lighting up then this indicates the battery isnt charging properly so what you need to do now is check that the alternater belt is tighten correctly and not slipping check all wires going to the alternater if they are ok then the chance are the alternater needs replacing.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Aztek will not start.

First check if battery if it is charge and try again ,or use one that have full charge.
If works you alternater is not charging,
Can also check alternater by pulling ground cable off wile car is running and if stops running change you alternater.

Once the battery was placed backwards it may have sent a charge to the radio causing it to stop working, the alternater you should just try to either get it directly replaced same model..but if you want to try make sure all conectors are the same...other then that you can probly get a rebuilt one cheaper...rebuilt your current one will make sure its the same...and one major thing before you change anything make sure that the belt is on properly for the alternator and everything and just check if you are geting any charge from it
