The battery was unhooked now my radio needs a code and i dont have it. the car was bought used

I unhooked my battery to my car and when i put it back the radio said i needed a code

if you have owners manual it will give you info on how to input the 4 digit code, the code will be on a card or in the manual for the radio, if you dont have these a good auto audio dealer should be able to code it for you

How do I remove the battery to replace with a new one?

in a word,,,dont! dont remove your battery untill you hook up another 12 volt power line to the car,, through the cigy lighter scoket, or when you unhook your battery you will loos all the radio codes and the alarm codes so,,dont just take off your battery,,without hooking up a power line to the car first, so many people just undo the battery and then there stuffed

check the radio manufacturer's website for a manual My wife had a similar problem with her car radio and the manufacturer had a manual in PDF format that she donwloaded and was able to rest her radio.

The only way without removing the radio and paying for code search is to go to your Merc dealership with the Log Book/Title proof ownership/identification they will be glad to give you the required code.
